The Grass KickerZ swims a paddletail through cover that would foul a treble-hooked lure. An oversized paddle tail creates an aggressive action and surface commotion, behind a tapered nose and slim body built to slide over heavy cover. A moulded belly hook slot lets a worm hook or weighted swimbait hook bed cleanly and break free on the strike. Z-Man rates the ElaZtech construction at 10X tougher than conventional soft plastic, and rates the material buoyant enough to keep the bait on top of the slop even on heavy-gauge hooks. Supplied 5" long, four per pack, made in the USA.

How To Fish It

• Weedless over matted grass — Rig on a 5/0–7/0 heavy-gauge worm hook, no weight, and swim it steadily across hydrilla, hyacinth or lily pads. Rod tip high, and pause a beat after the blow-up before loading up.
• Texas rig with a light bullet weight — A 1/8–3/8 oz weight pulls it through gaps in the weed; stop and the buoyant body rises tail-up in the strike zone instead of lying flat.
• Weighted swimbait hook along edges — A 1/8–1/4 oz belly-weighted hook runs it just under the surface along weed lines and mangrove roots.
• Open water on a jig head — Count it down over flats and drains, then wind slow and steady so the tail thumps without rolling.

• Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) and hampala barb (sebarau) over weed beds and flooded timber, barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack along river mouths and mangrove roots.
• North America — Largemouth bass in matted grass, pads and hydrilla on southern reservoirs and the Florida chain lakes; pike and muskie along cabbage edges; snook, redfish and speckled trout weedless over marsh grass, oyster bars and turtle grass; striped bass on a jig head in tailrace seams.
• Japan & East Asia — Largemouth bass in the weedy shallows of Lake Biwa and Kasumigaura on a weightless rig, and seabass (suzuki) over shallow structure from shore.
