Yozuri Mag Minnow 125mm R1140 Floating New Tobimaru

The Yo-Zuri Mag Minnow 125 is the long-casting floating minnow of the Tobimaru family. An internal magnetic weight transfer system shifts mass to the tail on the cast for a stable, nose-first flight, then returns it forward on landing so the lure swims true from the first turn of the handle. At 125 mm and 28 g it punches through headwind and reaches bait that sits beyond normal casting range from a beach, breakwater or pier. It runs to 1.4 m and floats back up on the pause, so it works over shallow reef and sandbars that a sinking lure would foul. Through-wire ABS construction, stainless split rings and 3X strong trebles handle hard-pulling saltwater fish.

How To Fish It

• Long-cast and steady wind — Reach bait schools and structure beyond normal range from beaches, rock walls and jetties, then retrieve at a steady medium pace so the wiggle stays constant.
• Twitch and float — Two or three sharp twitches then a pause of one to two seconds. The lure darts off line and then rises slowly, which pulls followers into committing.
• Swing in current — At river mouths and breakwater ends, cast up-current and let the lure swing across on a tight line; fish hold on the seam and take on the swing.
• Slow troll inshore — Behind a small boat at low speed along drop-offs and reef edges, letting out enough line for the lure to settle into its running depth first.

• Southeast Asia — Barramundi (siakap), mangrove jack (jenahak), queenfish (talang) and trevally around jetties, rock walls and river mouths; Spanish mackerel (tenggiri) over shallow reef when a wire trace is used.
• North America — Striped bass, bluefish and false albacore from the surf and jetties; largemouth bass, walleye and white bass in freshwater.
• Japan & East Asia — Seabass (suzuki) shore casting at river mouths, hirame and flathead from sandy beaches, plus small blue runners on light shore casting.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Barramundi, giant herring and tailor; queenfish and small barracuda on Gulf coasts; sea bass, pollack and pike across Europe.

Recommended Pairing

• Medium to medium-heavy spinning rod, 8'–9'6" for shore work or 7' for boat and jetty casting, rated around 15–40 g
• PE 1.5–2.5 braid with a 30–50 lb fluorocarbon or hard mono leader
• Add a short 40–60 lb bite trace where Spanish mackerel, barracuda or mangrove jack are present
• Rinse the hardware in fresh water after salt water use and check split rings before each trip
