Yozuri Egi Aurie-Q "RS" A1610 / A1584 / A1585 Squid Jig — #2.5, #3.0, #3.5

These are the full-size RS models: 11 g, 16 g and 21 g, the everyday shore and boat sizes of the Aurie-Q range. The "RS" is Yo-Zuri's patented Rolling Shaft system, a line eye carried on a rotating shaft that lets the body roll freely through a jerk sequence and stops a spinning squid from screwing line twist back up the leader. Around that sits a balanced body for a stable falling posture, a snag-resistant sinker that reduces hang-ups on rock and weed, an aurora cloth finish that flashes like fish scale, and dual crown Trick Hooks that grip a squid while still flexing free of light snags.

Choosing a size. A1610 at 11 g is the general shore size for roughly three to eight metres in light current. A1584 at 16 g falls at 3.0 sec/m — a fast, purposeful drop for deeper edges, running tide and windy days. A1585 at 21 g holds that same 3.0 sec/m rate on a larger silhouette, so it covers depth without falling any quicker — useful when big squid want a bigger target but not a faster one.

How To Fish It

Count the fall against the rate — At 3.0 sec/m a fifteen count on the #3.0 puts the jig about five metres down. Work down in layers, and once a squid takes, repeat that exact count.
Full shakuri sequence — Rod tip low, three to five hard upward snaps so the jig darts wide, then drop the tip and let it settle on a controlled bow of slack. The take is on the fall, never on the snap.
Fish the current, not against it — On a running tide cast up-current and let the jig swing back on a tight arc; the heavier #3.5 holds the fall angle where a light jig would be lifted and swept.
Sweep on anything odd — If the line stops early, jumps or moves sideways, lean into it and wind under steady tension. Pumping the rod puts in slack and the squid lets go.

Southeast Asia — Candat sotong for bigfin reef squid (sotong torak) and cuttlefish (sotong katak) from night boats, kelong and deeper jetty edges off Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
North America — Market squid off California piers and harbour lights, and Humboldt squid on deeper Pacific drops.
Japan & East Asia — The classic shore eging sizes for aoriika, plus kensaki-ika on boat drifts and tip-run; equally standard in Korea and Taiwan.
Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari and cuttlefish over seagrass and reef in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania; European squid and cuttlefish on Mediterranean and Atlantic marks.
