A weighted worm hook sits between two things most anglers already own. A jig head puts all the lead outside the bait, on the nose, with the point standing proud — fast to sink, hopeless in cover. A plain offset worm hook is weedless but weighs nothing, so you cannot cast it far or get it down. The Knocker is the middle ground: the lead is moulded onto the hook itself behind the line eye, so you gain casting weight and sink rate without giving up weedless rigging, and the weight is carried inside the bait rather than hanging off its face, so the lure keeps a natural profile.

The 4579 places its weight as a rounded slug at the head, so the bait noses down and drops head-first — the fall a craw or creature bait should have. A stepped offset keeper locks the plastic in place through repeated casts, and the wide-gap forged bend leaves room for the body to collapse on the strike so the nano-point needle-cut hook can come through cleanly. Six weights from 1.7 g to 11 g, five hooks to a pack.

How To Fish It

• Swim it just under the surface — The 1.7–2.4 g heads let a paddle tail be wound slowly over weed and lily without fouling. Rod high, retrieve steady.
• Cast and drop into cover — Pitch to a snag, root ball or jetty pile and let it fall on a controlled line. The head weight makes it dive nose-down; watch the line for the tick.
• Drag and hop on the bottom — With 5–7 g, drag a craw along the bottom in short pulls with pauses. Most takes come as it settles.
• Punch and pin down current — The 11 g #4/0 gets a bulky bait through surface mat and holds position in tidal flow where a lighter rig would wash out.
• Rigging it — Point in through the nose, out a few millimetres down, rotate, then bury it back through the top of the body. Keep the plastic straight or it will spin.

• Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) and haruan over weed and lily; hampala barb (sebarau) and peacock bass in reservoirs; barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack tight to mangrove root and jetty pilings.
• North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on Texas-rigged craws and creature baits, plus redfish and speckled trout worked over inshore grass.
• Japan & East Asia — Black bass in lakes and reservoirs when a weightless worm will not reach, and seabass (suzuki) around structure on a swimming paddle tail.

Specifications

Western numbering: #2 is the smallest here, then #1, then #1/0 rising to #4/0. Not every hook size is offered in every weight — choose the combination from the table.

Knocker or Searcher? The Anglar range carries two weighted worm hooks. The 4579 Knocker concentrates its lead at the head, so the bait falls nose-down and punches into cover, and it goes heavier — up to 11 g on a #4/0. The 4578 Searcher carries a longer belly weight under the shank, which lowers the centre of gravity and keeps the bait swimming and gliding level, and it is offered in ten finer weight steps from 0.8 g. Take the Knocker to drop a bait into a hole; take the Searcher to swim one across open water.

• 11 g on #4/0: heavy casting rod with the backbone to drive a thick wire hook, 40–65 lb braid, 5–7″ baits
