Santec Soft Warfrog With Worm Hook 3.5" Propeller Set

The Santec Soft Warfrog is a soft-bodied surface frog supplied as a complete set: 3.5" frog bodies, matching worm hooks and propellers, three pieces to a pack. Where a hard popper works by splashing, the Warfrog works by wake — the propeller turns on a steady retrieve and leaves a bubble trail and a low buzz behind the lure, which draws fish from a distance in flat calm and holds their attention over long, weedy stretches. The soft body has natural buoyancy so it sits up and keeps working in all weather, and it collapses under a striking fish so the worm hook clears instead of being blocked. Rigged weedless, it fishes straight through lily pads, floating grass and timber where a treble-hooked lure fouls on every cast. Available in Type A and Type B.

How To Fish It

• Steady wake retrieve — Cast beyond the target, lift the rod tip and wind at a constant speed so the propeller spins from the moment it lands. Keep it even; changing pace stalls the blade.
• Stop and start over pads — Wind across open pockets in the weed, then stop dead in each gap. The buoyant body sits there twitching, and that is where most takes happen.
• Twitch along an edge — Work short pulls parallel to a weed line, reed bank or mangrove face rather than casting straight at cover, keeping it in the strike zone longer.
• Delay the hookset — Wait for the line to load before setting. Sweep hard and low to drive the hook through the soft body, then keep the rod up to bring the fish over weed.

• Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) and striped snakehead (haruan) over lily pads and flooded grass, peacock bass on reservoir margins, barramundi (siakap) in mangrove drains.
