SANTEC - SILICONE SKIRT 100% 13cm SILICONE RUBBER
Santec Silicone Skirt 13cm — 100% Silicone Rubber
A skirt is the part of a spinnerbait, buzzbait, rubber jig, inchiku or tairaba that does the actual fish-attracting. It breathes on the pause, flares on the lift and collapses on the fall, giving the lure a living outline that a hard body cannot. It is also the part that dies first. Rubber and older silicone skirts harden, stick together, curl and lose colour after a season in the sun and the tackle box, and a stiff skirt turns a good jig into a lump of lead. These 13 cm skirts are made from 100% silicone for flexibility and long life, and they let you rebuild a favourite lure instead of retiring it.
Replacing skirts also puts colour choice back in your hands. Sixteen colours means you can mix strands across two or three packs and build combinations no factory lure comes in — a dark base with two bright strands for stained water, a translucent shad pattern for clear reservoirs, or a full chartreuse skirt for a muddy river after rain.

How To Rig It
- Re-skirting a jig or spinnerbait — Cut the old skirt collar off with a blade, taking care not to nick the hook shank or wire. Slide the new skirt onto the collar seat and lock it with a skirt band, a short length of silicone tube or a few wraps of tying thread.
- Trim to tune the action — Full 13 cm strands give maximum flare and a slow fall. Trim to just past the hook bend for a compact bait that fish cannot short-strike, or taper the strands so the outer ones are longer for a fuller shape.
- Inchiku and tairaba skirts — Thread strands through the head or tie them onto the assist cord behind the head. Keep the bunch thin here — a heavy skirt kills the slow, drifting fall these rigs depend on.
- Mix your own colours — Pull strands from two or three packs and combine them. A common formula is a dark or natural base with four to six contrasting strands as an accent.
- Blend with other materials — Add a few strands of aurora or luminous thread, or a small feather, into the same collar for flash and movement the silicone alone will not give.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Rebuilt spinnerbaits and rubber jigs for giant snakehead (toman), hampala barb (sebarau) and peacock bass in reservoirs; re-skirted inchiku and tairaba for grouper (kerapu) and snapper on boat trips.
- North America — The classic home of the skirted lure: largemouth and smallmouth bass on flipping jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and chatterbaits, plus pike and musky on oversized skirted baits.
- Japan & East Asia — Tairaba and inchiku skirts for madai and hata, and rubber jig work for black bass on Japanese lakes.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Spinnerbaits for barramundi, Murray cod and yellowbelly in Australia; pike and perch on skirted jigs and spinnerbaits in European lakes and canals; skirted bottom rigs for hamour in the Gulf.
