SANTEC - SABIKI MASTER CATCH 4428 UV EFFECT LUMINOUS BEAD APOLLO SW
Santec Sabiki Master Catch 4428 UV Effect Luminous Bead Apollo SW (6 Hooks Per Set)
The Sabiki Apollo lure set is crafted with special luminous thread, and combines a UV effect with glow in the dark to increase visibility in low-light conditions and for night fishing. The 4428 Master Catch is a pure thread rig — no skin, no feather — six droppers of fine luminous filament, each finished with an oval luminous bead above a sharpened hook.
Thread is the softest dressing on the range, and that is the point. A bundle of loose filaments has almost no stiffness, so it opens and closes on tide alone and keeps moving through the dead spot at the top of a lift, where skin and feather have already gone still. On jetties fished every evening, that slower, less mechanical movement is often what turns picked-over bait. The lighting works on two independent principles. The luminous thread and bead store light and release it — free output, but a finite tank that drains through the first half hour after charging. The UV effect stores nothing and never runs down; it reflects ultraviolet already in the water, and since UV penetrates deeper than the warm end of the visible spectrum, it is the half still working at 20 m at midday or under a grey sky.
Key Features
- Special luminous thread dressing on every dropper
- UV effect plus glow in the dark
- Oval luminous bead above each hook
- Sharpened hook points for soft-mouthed baitfish
- Six dressed hooks per set, ready tied
- Five hook sizes, #10 through #18, for small and mid-sized baitfish
How To Fish It
- Let the tide do the work — On a running tide, drop the rig, hold the tip still and let the current comb the filaments open. Only add movement if ten still seconds bring nothing.
- Charge on a schedule — The glow fades; the UV does not. Give the thread and beads 20–30 seconds of torchlight every few drops rather than only at the start of the session.
- Cage below, shake once — Hang a cage of mashed shrimp or krill under the string to keep it vertical, lower to the school, then one sharp shake to release the cloud.
- Fine tremors, no strike — Bites arrive as a run of small taps. Keep winding at one speed, swing the loaded string in, and clear hooks from the bottom dropper up.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Yellowstripe scad (selar), sardine (tamban) and Indian mackerel (kembung) off town jetties and river-mouth pontoons, held live for barramundi (siakap).
- North America — Pacific mackerel, sardine and smelt from West Coast piers; Atlantic herring and mackerel off northeastern breakwalls.
- Japan & East Asia — Sabiki-zuri for aji and iwashi on breakwaters fished nightly, where the bait has seen every rig in the shop.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Slimy mackerel and yellowtail scad off harbour wharves; small scad along Gulf marina walls; sardine and picarel in Mediterranean ports.
