Santec Sabiki Guerilla 4424 UV Glow Luminous Fishskin Apollo SW (6 Hooks Per Set)
The Sabiki Apollo lure set is crafted with special luminous fish skin, and combines UV and glow-in-the-dark effects to increase visibility in low light and for night fishing. The 4424 Guerilla carries the most material of any string in the Apollo range: six droppers of luminous fish skin, each with an oval luminous bead above a sharpened hook.
What separates it from a plain skin rig is where the glow lives. The luminous compound is worked into the skin itself, so the whole dressing lights as a baitfish-shaped body rather than as one bright dot on a bead — and in deep or dirty water a silhouette carries much further than a pinpoint. This is the string for a green harbour that has closed down to arm's-length visibility.
The two effects are often confused. Glow is emission: the skin and bead absorb light, hold it, then release it as their own green output, which is finite and fades. UV is reflection: the finish produces nothing, but ultraviolet is already present in daylight and reaches deeper than red and orange do, so a UV dressing keeps reading vivid at depth, under heavy cloud and in run-off. Neither replaces the other; the 4424 carries both, so one string covers the afternoon and the night watch.
Key Features
- Luminous fish skin dressing — the glow is in the skin, not only the bead
- UV effect plus glow in the dark
- Oval luminous bead above each hook
- Sharpened hook points for soft-mouthed baitfish
- Six dressed hooks per set, ready tied
- Six hook sizes, #8 through #18
How To Fish It
- Charge it properly — A luminous skin has more surface to fill than a bead. Hold a torch close for a full 30 seconds and re-charge every few drops as the output falls off.
- Work the dirty layer — After rain, bait stacks under the murk line. Count down to it, then lift 20–40 cm and drop, letting the skins flare and fold on the way back.
- Chum below the rig — Hang a bait cage of mashed shrimp or krill under the string, lower to the school, then shake once to open the cloud around the droppers.
- Wind through the taps — A loaded string feels like light continuous tremors. Do not strike; wind at a steady pace, swing it in, and unhook from the bottom dropper up.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Sardine (tamban), yellowstripe scad (selar) and Indian mackerel (kembung) in coloured monsoon water off jetties and kelong.
- North America — Pacific mackerel and sardine from West Coast piers; Atlantic herring and mackerel off eastern jetties in stirred, plankton-green water.
- Japan & East Asia — Sabiki-zuri for aji, saba and iwashi on breakwaters after a blow, when clarity has dropped.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Slimy mackerel and yellowtail scad off wharves, small scad on Gulf harbour walls, sardine in Atlantic and Mediterranean ports.
