The Sabiki Apollo lure set is crafted with special fish skin, attractive to a wide range of species, with a glow-in-the-dark effect that increases visibility in low light and night fishing. A sabiki (サビキ) is a Japanese bait rig: one trace, a row of short droppers, a small dressed hook on each, and a bait cage or sinker below.

Fish skin is the original sabiki dressing and still the most convincing: real skin stays translucent and folds the way a small baitfish flank does. Feather is bulkier and aurora thread flashes harder, but neither reads as fish the way skin does. The trade-off is durability — membrane tears once fish start hitting. The luminous coating self-emits after you charge it with light, which is not the same as a UV finish: UV reflects daylight, glow works when there is no light at all.

How To Fish It

• Charge it first — Hold a torch on the skins for 20–30 seconds before each drop, and again each time you wind in; the glow fades with time and depth.
• Set up and chum — Clip the top swivel to your main line, hang a bait cage or sinker below to keep the string vertical, lower it to where the school is holding, then shake the rod to spread a cloud of mashed shrimp or krill through the rig.
• Short jigging — Lift the tip 20–40 cm and lower it, repeatedly. The skins flutter on each drop; that draws the strike, not speed.
• Read the taps, never strike — Bites are continuous light tremors, not one knock. Wind steadily, swing a loaded string in rather than lifting it clear, unhook from the bottom dropper upward, and put keepers into an aerated pail as live bait.
