SANTEC - SABIKI AURORA THREAD 4341 UV EFFECT LUMINOUS APOLLO SW
Santec Sabiki Aurora Thread 4341 UV Effect Luminous Apollo SW (5 Hooks Per Set)
The Sabiki Apollo lure set is crafted with special luminous aurora thread, and comes together with a UV effect and glow in the dark to increase visibility in low-light conditions and for night fishing. Santec also lists this model as Aurora Thread / Glow Mark 4341. It is a five-hook string, and unlike most of the range it carries no bead — every bit of light comes out of the dressing itself.
That makes it the cleanest string here. With nothing hard above the hook the dropper stays slim, the thread hangs straight in current, and there is no rigid component for a fish to focus on in clear water. Five hooks rather than six also shortens the rig, which helps from a high jetty wall or in a crowd.
Three things produce light here, and they are worth telling apart. Aurora thread is mechanical: iridescent filaments that split ambient light into short shifting flashes as they twist — pure reflection, so it needs light to work with. The glow finish is emission: charge it and it releases its own green light with no outside source, carrying the rig through full darkness until it fades. The UV effect is reflection again, but of the invisible part of daylight; ultraviolet reaches deeper than warm colours, so the dressing holds its intensity in deep, overcast or coloured water where a plain silver rig has gone flat.
Key Features
- Special luminous aurora thread dressing on every dropper
- Special UV effect for daylight depth and overcast water
- Glow-in-the-dark effect for full darkness
- No bead — slim droppers, less hardware in clear water
- Five dressed hooks per set, ready tied
- Six hook sizes, #6 through #16, running larger than most sabiki strings
How To Fish It
- Twist, do not yank — Aurora thread flashes when it rotates. Short 15–20 cm lifts with a slight wrist turn keep the filaments spinning; long sweeps just pull the rig flat.
- Match the hook to the bait — #6 and #8 suit larger bait than a standard sabiki takes: herring, garfish, hand-sized scad. Drop to #14–#16 for small sardine.
- Charge only the glow — 20–30 seconds of torchlight before each drop. The aurora and UV elements need no charging.
- Cage and cloud — Hang a bait cage below to hold the string vertical, lower to the school, shake once, then fish the cloud as it drifts back through the droppers.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Larger Indian mackerel (kembung), selar and small queenfish off deep jetties and kelong, when a bigger live bait is wanted for grouper and trevally.
- North America — Pacific mackerel and jacksmelt from piers, Atlantic mackerel and herring from breakwalls, on the larger hook sizes.
- Japan & East Asia — Sabiki-zuri for good-sized aji and saba; the larger hooks suit autumn fish that have outgrown a #14 string.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Slimy mackerel, yellowtail scad and garfish off wharves; small scad on Gulf harbour walls; mackerel and herring from European piers.
