Santec Sabiki 888 Aurora Thread 4363 UV Effect Apollo SW (6 Hooks Per Set)
The Sabiki Apollo lure set is crafted with special glitter aurora thread, and comes together with a green UV effect which increases visibility in low-light conditions and for night fishing. The 4363 is the plain-dressed string of the range: six droppers of glitter aurora thread on sharpened hooks, no bead, no skin, no feather — and, unlike the rest of the Apollo line, no luminous element at all.
That absence is worth understanding before buying. Glow materials must be charged under a torch and then fade over the following half hour; this string has nothing to charge and nothing to run out. What it will not do is make its own light in true darkness — both of its effects need light already present. Glitter aurora thread works on visible light: iridescent filaments twist as the rig moves and throw short, hard flashes. The green UV effect works on the invisible band, reflecting ultraviolet already in the water; because UV travels further down the column than red or orange, the dressing still reads bright at depth, on grey days and in green coastal water where a plain silver rig has gone dull.
Read it as a daytime and deep-water string, for anglers working under a bright sun rather than off a lit jetty at midnight.
Key Features
- Glitter aurora thread dressing on every dropper
- Green UV effect for depth, overcast light and coloured water
- No luminous element — nothing to charge, nothing to fade
- Sharpened hook points for soft-mouthed baitfish
- Six dressed hooks per set, ready tied
- Seven hook sizes, #4 through #16 — the largest hooks in the Apollo range
How To Fish It
- Keep it turning — Aurora thread flashes only while it rotates. Short, brisk 15–25 cm lifts keep the filaments spinning; a long slow sweep pulls them straight and kills it.
- Use it in the sun — It is strongest in bright daylight and clear-to-green water, where a glow string has little to offer.
- Pick the hook to the bait — #4 and #6 handle herring, garfish and hand-sized scad; #14 and #16 are for small sardine and juvenile scad.
- Cage and cloud — Hang a cage of mashed shrimp or krill below to hold the string vertical, drop to the school, shake once, then work the droppers through the cloud.
- Wind, never strike — A loaded string reads as light continuous tremors. Keep winding, swing it in, and unhook from the bottom dropper up.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Indian mackerel (kembung), selar and small queenfish in daylight off deep jetties and kelong; larger hooks for bait destined for grouper and trevally.
- North America — Pacific mackerel, jacksmelt and sardine from West Coast piers; Atlantic mackerel and herring off eastern breakwalls.
- Japan & East Asia — Daytime sabiki-zuri from breakwaters for aji and saba, particularly autumn fish that have outgrown a fine string.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Slimy mackerel, yellowtail scad and garfish off wharves; scad along Gulf harbour walls; mackerel and herring from European piers.
