Santec Ryujin Paddle Tail Soft Bait 2.5" / 4.0" Soft Plastic Lure
Ryujin is Santec's straightforward paddle-tail swimbait, offered in a 2.5" body and a 4" body across twelve colours. This is the lure that swims by itself — cast, wind, and the boot tail thumps with no input from the rod, which makes it the easiest soft plastic to hand to a beginner and still the fallback when the bite is hard to read. Santec packs terminal tackle to suit each size: the 2.5" ships with a jig head, ready to fish open water out of the packet, and the 4" ships with a worm hook so it can be rigged weedless for cover. The twelve colors are shared with the rest of the Santec soft bait line, so a proven pattern carries across.
Key Features
- Paddle tail that swims on a straight retrieve with no rod action needed
- Two sizes: 2.5" for light tackle, 4" for bigger predators and cover
- 2.5" packs include one jig head 5g #3/0
- 4" packs include one weighted worm hook 5g #5/0
- Twelve colors covering clear, stained, glow and UV patterns
How To Fish It
- Steady swim — Cast, count the lure down, then wind at a constant speed. Change the count rather than the speed until you find the level the fish are holding at.
- Weedless over cover — Rig the 4" on the supplied worm hook with the point buried and swim it over weed, timber and mangrove roots, pausing in every gap.
- Bottom bounce — On the 2.5" jig head, let the lure hit bottom, wind three or four turns, then stop and let it fall again. Good over sand and gravel where flatfish sit.
- Bladed lure trailer — Run the 4" behind a chatterbait or spinnerbait to widen the profile and add vibration in dirty water.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — 2.5" for hampala barb (sebarau), peacock bass and jetty trevally; 4" weedless for giant snakehead (toman), haruan, barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack in the creeks.
- North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on both sizes, crappie on the 2.5", and redfish, speckled trout and flounder on the 4" inshore.
- Japan & East Asia — Seabass (suzuki) in harbours and river mouths on the 4", mebaru and kasago on the 2.5", and hirame and flathead over sandy beaches.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Flathead, bream and Australian bass in estuaries; barramundi in northern impoundments on the 4"; pike, perch and zander in European lakes.
