SANTEC - ROD HOLDER SEAT 70cm/90cm ADJUSTABLE ROD STAND
Santec Rod Holder Seat 6553 — 70cm / 90cm Adjustable Rod Stand
The Santec Adjustable Rod Holder Seat is a ground-mounted bank stick that holds your rod off the dirt while you wait for a bite. The long metal shaft is pointed so it drives into soil, sand or soft ground, and carries two supports: a U-shaped rest at the top for the blank and a circular seat lower down that the handle drops into. The lower seat slides along the shaft, so you can set the spacing to match the length and balance of the rod. The plastic supports are glow-in-the-dark; give them a few minutes of light before dusk and you can find the stand at night instead of treading on it. It comes in 70cm and 90cm — the short one packs easily, the long one gives more height for tall grass, steep banks and uneven ground.
Key Features
- Pointed ground stake drives into soil, sand and soft ground
- Sliding lower seat adjusts to rod length and balance
- Upper U-shaped rest cradles the blank; lower cup holds the handle
- Glow-in-the-dark plastic supports for night visibility
- Heavy-duty shaft in a high-visibility orange finish
- Two lengths: 70cm and 90cm
How To Use It
- Setting the angle — Lean the stake back from the water so the tip sits high — that keeps line clear of weed and snags in still water. Drop the tip low when wind is pushing a bow into your line.
- Soft ground — In mud, silt or wet sand, push deeper than feels necessary and rock the shaft as you go so it beds in. Test the hold with a hand pull before resting a rod in it.
- Hard ground — On packed clay, gravel or rock you will not drive it far. Angle it into a crack, weight the base with your tackle bag or a stone, and keep the drag light so a run cannot pull the stand over.
- Multi-rod setups — Space stands roughly a rod-length apart and fan the tips outward so lines do not cross and you can lift one rod without knocking the next.
- Night fishing — Charge the luminous supports under a headlamp, clip a bell or lighted tip marker to the rod, and leave the bail open or the drag loose so a run cannot pull the rod off the stand.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Reservoir and pond edges for tilapia, catfish (keli, patin) and rohu on soft mud, and estuary bank sessions for barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack on bait.
- North America — Shoreline setups for channel and blue catfish, carp and stripers, often two or three rods out at once.
- Japan & East Asia — Riverbank and reservoir bait fishing for carp (koi), crucian carp (funa) and catfish (namazu), and surf stands on sand beaches.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Beach and estuary bait rods for bream, whiting and mulloway; European carp, tench and bream anglers using bank sticks in soft margins.
