Santec Rampage 70mm / 75mm / 80mm / 85mm / 95mm Squid Jig — 3668

The Rampage is a five-size range of cloth-bodied squid jigs covering 70 mm through to 95 mm, so a single series takes you from small shallow-water squid up to the bigger fish that hold deeper and in current. The steps between sizes are small, which matters more with squid than with fish: they refuse a jig one step too big long before they refuse a colour. The ten finishes are built around red-head, full-glow and two-tone patterns, covering both a high-contrast silhouette for night or coloured water and quieter tones for bright, clear days. Supplied five pieces to a packet.

Key Features

  • Five sizes: #1.0 / 70 mm, #1.5 / 75 mm, #2.0 / 80 mm, #2.5 / 85 mm and #3.0 / 95 mm
  • Ten colour patterns, including red-head, glow and two-tone finishes
  • Cloth-covered body for a natural feel that squid hold on to
  • Tail crown of fine barbless points, sized to the body
  • Supplied five pieces per packet
  • SKU numbering encodes size and colour (3668 + size + colour number)

How To Fish It

  • Match the size to depth and squid size — 70 mm and 75 mm are for shallow, clear, heavily-fished water and small squid, and they keep working when a bigger jig is followed but not taken. 80 mm and 85 mm are the everyday sizes over a few metres with moderate tide. 95 mm sinks quickest and holds in current — the deep-mark, big-squid option.
  • Drop, lift, hold — On a boat, drop to the bottom or to the depth showing squid, lift smoothly through three to five winds, then stop dead and hold for five to ten seconds. Takes come on the pause and the fall almost every time.
  • Cast and glide from shore — Off a jetty or breakwater, cast, count the jig down, then snap the rod twice and let it glide back on a semi-slack line. Increase the count by five each cast until you find the layer.
  • Lean into it, wind at one speed — A squid grabs with its arms, so a take simply feels heavy or the tip fails to spring back. Load the rod smoothly and wind steadily all the way in; do not pump, and do not strike.
  • Charge the glow patterns — Give the glow and two-tone finishes 20–30 seconds under a deck light or UV torch before each drop, and again whenever they dull.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Sotong torak (bigfin reef squid) and sotong katak (cuttlefish) on night candat sotong trips, and casting around lit jetties and harbour walls in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
  • North America — Market squid off Pacific piers and lit moorings, fished for the table or as fresh bait.
  • Japan & East Asia — Aoriika on shore eging, with the smaller sizes suited to tight, pressured harbour marks; kensaki-ika and yariika on boat drifts.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari over seagrass and arrow squid from deep jetties; European squid and cuttlefish on Mediterranean and Atlantic marks.

  • On a dropper rig, run the smaller sizes above a sinker or a weighted metal squid jig
