Santec Kraken Squid 6cm / 8cm / 10cm / 12cm / 15cm Soft Bait Octopus
The Kraken Squid is a soft octopus-style body sold five pieces to a pack across five lengths, in a plain version (model #35922) and a laser-finish version (model #35932). Its job is to add a slow, breathing silhouette to a bottom rig — the skirt keeps moving on the drop and on the pause. Sold as a size ladder from 6cm to 15cm, it covers light jetty and reef work at the small end and deep drift fishing at the large end. Luminous and transparent green finishes carry into deep or low-light water; red head, pink white and white cover clear daylight.
Key Features
- Five lengths from 6cm to 15cm, covering light to heavy bottom work
- Two models: #35922 standard and #35932 with a laser finish
- Five pieces per pack
- Luminous and light luminous options for deep water and night sessions
- Threads onto an inchiku or tairaba head, a jig head, or a tenya-style hook
How To Fish It
- Inchiku or tairaba skirt replacement — Thread a Kraken over the head in place of a tired factory skirt. Drop to the bottom, then wind slowly and steadily with no rod movement.
- Jig head bottom fishing — Rig the 6–10cm bodies on a jig head, drop to the seabed, lift a metre and hold. Repeat every few seconds, re-dropping as the boat drifts.
- Dropper above a sinker — Run one on a short dropper loop above a paternoster rig with bait, so a moving silhouette works alongside the bait scent.
- Night jetty work — Charge a luminous body under a torch, then fish it slowly under jetty lights where squid and their predators feed.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Grouper (kerapu), snapper (merah) and grunter over reef and wreck; cuttlefish and squid off lit jetties at night; small trevally on the 6–8cm bodies.
- North America — Sea bass, scup, lingcod and rockfish; grouper and mangrove snapper on Gulf structure; a skirt dressing on bucktails for fluke and striped bass.
- Japan & East Asia — Madai on tairaba, plus rockfish and hata on inchiku and tenya rigs; the 12–15cm bodies suit deeper drifts over rough ground.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Snapper and pearl perch on reef drifts; hamour and Gulf emperor over hard bottom; pollack and cod on European inshore marks.
