The Santec Flott Hopp 3591012 is the bladed version of the Flott Hopp: a compact topwater frog that combines a soft, collapsible body with the flash and vibration of a rear-mounted spinner blade. The rounded frog body floats and can be worked with a steady swimming action, short jerks or a stop-and-go retrieve; while it moves, the rear blade rotates, throws light and puts out vibration that helps predators find it from a distance. The soft hollow body compresses on the bite so the integrated double hooks become exposed for the hookset, and because those hooks sit close along the sides of the body the lure stays relatively snag-resistant around grass, lily pads, branches and other shallow cover. At 40mm the body is shorter than the 45mm Flott Hopp, but the blade and hardware bring it up to 8.4g — the heaviest soft frog in the Flott Hopp family and the one to reach for when you need casting weight into small openings, canal edges, pond corners, reservoir margins and vegetation lines.

How To Fish It

• Steady swim — Wind at a constant pace fast enough to keep the blade turning from the moment it lands. This is the retrieve the lure is built around; changing speed stalls the blade.
• Stop and go — Wind three or four turns, stop, let the body sit, then start again. The blade catches on restart and that flash-and-kick is often what triggers the take.
• Short jerks along an edge — Sharp taps of the rod tip down a weed line or reed bank make the blade flutter irregularly rather than spin evenly.
• Set on weight, not splash — Keep winding until the rod loads, then sweep low and hard to clear the collapsing body.
