Santec Fishing Lock Heavy Duty 125mm / 146mm
The Santec Fishing Lock is a heavy-duty locking clip built for the jobs on a boat or a bank where a light snap is not enough. It is made from stainless steel for strength and corrosion resistance, and the clasp closes positively so a load cannot shake it open. The manufacturer describes three main uses: securing a caught fish, joining gear together, and working with stringers and ropes. Operation is one-handed — press the gate, hook it on, let it close — which matters when your other hand is holding a fish or a rope under tension. It is offered in two lengths, 125mm and 146mm, and sold singly, so you can buy the size that suits the rope or fitting you are clipping to.
Key Features
- Stainless steel construction for strength and corrosion resistance
- Positive locking clasp that will not shake open under load
- Simple one-handed lock-and-release operation
- Multi-purpose: securing a caught fish, joining gear, stringer and rope work
- Two lengths — 125mm (L) and 146mm (XL)
- Sold as a single piece for personal use or replacement
How To Use It
- On a stringer — Run the stringer cord through the lock and clip it to a cleat, a jetty rail or a tree root so the line of fish stays in the water and stays put in current or wash.
- Joining gear — Use it to link a rope to a bucket handle, keepnet, float or anchor line. Load the clip along its long axis, not across the gate, which is the weak direction on any snap.
- Tethering on a boat or kayak — Clip tools, nets and dry bags to a D-ring or rail so nothing goes over the side in a swell. Keep tethers short enough that they cannot foul a running line.
- Sizing — The 125mm size handles most rope, cord and handle diameters; the 146mm gives a wider gate opening and more reach for thicker rope, larger rings and gloved hands.
- Care — Rinse in fresh water after saltwater trips and work the gate a few times to flush salt and sand out of the mechanism before it stiffens.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — On jetties, kelongs and river boats to secure stringers of tilapia, catfish (keli) and grouper, and to clip buckets and anchor ropes on small craft.
- North America — Stringer and cooler work for panfish, catfish and walleye, plus general utility clipping on bass boats, kayaks and ice shelters.
- Japan & East Asia — Breakwater and harbour fishing, where gear is tied off along tetrapod walls and bucket lines need a lock that will not open in wash.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Estuary and beach anglers securing keepnets and bait buckets; Gulf and European shore anglers clipping equipment on breakwaters and pontoons.
