The Santec 35830 Croak Jumper Frog is a compact topwater lure developed for presenting a small frog-like target around shallow cover. Its highly buoyant resin body remains at the surface, while the flexible rubber skirt generates movement and vibration during the retrieve. Short, controlled rod twitches cause the lure to jump, shake and change direction — an irregular action that resembles a frog struggling across the surface. At 3cm and 6.35g it is the smallest frog in the Santec surface range: a lure for placing into a specific pocket in the weed rather than for covering open water. The double-hook system and two wire weed guards let it travel through light grass, lily pads and floating vegetation with fewer snags than an exposed treble-hook lure.

How To Fish It

• Twitch and jump — Short, sharp downward taps of the rod tip with slack line between them. The lure jumps, shakes and turns off line; let it settle for a second or two after each burst before the next.
• Pause beside cover — Land it next to a reed edge, pad or timber and leave it. The skirt keeps working while the body is stationary, and fish sitting under the cover often take it during that dead time.
• Slow crawl through grass — Wind just fast enough to keep the body tracking on top, using the weed guards to walk it over light vegetation and into open pockets.
• Wait on the strike — Do not swing at the splash. Wait until the rod loads, then sweep low and sideways to drive the double hooks home.
