MEGABASS - SHADING-X 62mm 5.3g SUSPENDING CRANKBAIT MIDDLE LURE CASTING
Megabass Shading-X 62mm 5.3g Suspending Crankbait
The Shading-X is a flat-sided suspending crankbait built for the middle of the water column. The ultra-thin body cuts water resistance while throwing a hard flash and a tight, high-pitch roll — what a finesse crank needs when fish inspect a bait rather than react to it. Inside is Megabass' Neo Triangle Counter Balancer System, a precision internal weight arrangement that loads the cast on a small 62mm, 5.3g body and then drives that high-pitch roll on the retrieve. Because the bait suspends, it hovers in place through a pause instead of floating up or sinking out of the strike zone, which is what makes twitch–pause and slow-roll presentations work with it. Megabass position it as a mid-range bait for roughly 1.0–1.5 m of water. Made in Japan.

- Suits slow rolls, stop-and-go and light twitching without retuning
- Made in Japan; four colour patterns
How To Fish It
- Slow roll — Cast past the target and wind at a steady, unhurried pace so the flat sides keep flashing. This is the default in stained water and around shallow rock, weed edges and jetty pilings.
- Twitch and pause — Two short rod-tip twitches, then stop for one to three seconds. The bait hangs level on the pause; most bites land there, so keep a light bow in the line and watch it.
- Stop-and-go — Wind three or four turns, stop, wind again. Changing speed rather than depth is often what triggers a following fish to commit.
- Deflection — Bump the bait into rock, a stump or a piling and let it kick sideways; the counter balancer rights the posture quickly, so the erratic moment is short and sharp.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) on reservoir points and rocky river banks, peacock bass around shallow structure, small barramundi (siakap) at jetty lights, and jungle perch in clear highland streams.
- North America — Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass on flat-side patterns in cold or clear water, plus crappie and white bass on shad schools.
- Japan & East Asia — Black bass on pressured lakes and reservoirs where a small silent-running flat side outfishes a fat rattling crank; also a light seabass option in calm harbours.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass and golden perch in impoundments; perch, chub, zander and small pike on European canals, rivers and gravel pits.
