Megabass Diving Flap Slap 76.2mm 12.5g Floating Lure

The Diving Flap Slap is the deep-running member of the Flap Slap family. It keeps the shad body and the patented Megabass Shaft Balancer System of the original — an internal balancer that always returns the lure to its centre of gravity, giving a high-pitch rolling flash that survives both a fast burn and hard rod snaps — but a purpose-built diving lip takes it to about 7 ft (Megabass Japan list a maximum of 2.1 m). That is the difference that matters: the standard Flap Slap works the top 4 ft, while this one reaches rock ledges, submerged grass lines and mid-depth transitions the shallow version passes over. It is silent, with no rattle chamber, and it floats, so it still rises clear of cover on the pause. The SP-C special coating carries a high-clarity foil finish for flash in stained or deeper water.

How To Fish It

• Crank the depth — Cast long, wind hard for the first few turns to load the lip and dig the bait down, then settle into a steady medium retrieve to hold it near 7 ft.
• Deflect off structure — Grind the lip into rock ledges, stumps and the top of submerged grass, then keep winding; the kick out of the deflection is the strike trigger.
• Crank and pause — Bring it to depth, stop for a second or two and let it rise slowly before restarting. In cooler water the rise converts followers.
• Hard snapping — Fish it as a deep jerkbait with sharp downward snaps and slack-line pauses. The shaft balancer resets the posture after each snap, so it tracks true instead of rolling over.

• Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) on deeper reservoir points and rocky river bends, peacock bass holding off the bank, giant snakehead (toman) over submerged timber, and barramundi (siakap) working drop-offs at jetties and river mouths.
• North America — Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass on creek channel swings, riprap and deeper grass lines; also white bass and walleye on shad schools.
• Japan & East Asia — Black bass on lakes and reservoirs, worked down rocky banks and along breaklines where a silent shad profile is preferred to a rattling crank.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, golden perch and sooty grunter in impoundments; perch, zander, chub and asp on European rivers, canals and gravel pits.

Recommended Pairing

• Medium or medium-heavy casting rod of 6'8" to 7'2", moderate action, to absorb head shakes at depth
• Baitcasting reel around 6.3:1; a slower ratio makes it easier to hold the lure at its running depth
• 10–14 lb fluorocarbon to help it reach and hold 7 ft — heavier or floating line will lift the running depth
• Around timber and rock in Southeast Asian reservoirs, 20–30 lb braid with a 16–20 lb leader
