The Squid Game Egi GSNE is a compact cast-and-jerk squid jig for jetties, rock walls, harbour basins and shallow coastal ground. An egi is fished on the cast: a weighted, cloth-wrapped shrimp that darts sideways when the rod is snapped and falls nose-down on the pause — unlike a sutte, the plain barrel bait hung under a boat. The GSNE carries a cloth-wrapped textured body, a large 3D eye, feather fins that add micro-vibration, and a balanced belly sinker that holds the falling posture steady. Luminous patterning keeps it visible in stained water and after dark, and two rows of stainless crown hooks give wide contact when a squid wraps the body.

Choosing a size. The 7.5 cm is the light-eging size: calm, clear, shallow water of roughly one to four metres, smaller squid, and pressured jetty marks where a bigger jig gets followed but not taken. The 8.5 cm is the general shore size for around three to eight metres, with enough body to cast into a breeze and hold depth over weed. The 10.5 cm is for distance, wind, running tide, deeper edges and the larger squid that want a bigger silhouette.

How To Fish It

• Cast, sink, count — Let the jig fall on a controlled slack line while counting. Add two seconds each cast until you find the squid, then repeat that count.
• Shakuri jerk cadence — Rod tip low, snap sharply upward two to four times so the jig darts sideways, then stop and let it settle. The take almost always happens on the fall, not on the jerk.
• Read the line, never strike — A squid hugs the jig with its arms, it does not bite. If the line stops sinking, twitches or drifts sideways, sweep smoothly into the weight and wind under constant tension. Pumping the rod puts slack in the line and the squid lets go.
• Charge the glow, fish the shadow — Luminous panels need light: hold a torch on the jig before each cast, then work the dark edge of a light pool rather than the bright middle, where squid sit and ambush.
