LURESFACTORY - TR GANGNAM FROG 5cm 15g HARDBODY LURE TOPWATER
Luresfactory TR Gangnam Frog 5cm 15g Hardbody Topwater
The TR Gangnam Frog is the heavy end of the Triton surface range: a 5cm hard body carrying 15g, which is roughly double the weight of the 4.5cm frogs in the same line. That mass changes what the lure is for. It casts far enough to fish the far bank, the mid-lake weed line and the timber you can see but normally cannot reach, and it stays on line in a crosswind where a 7g or 8.5g frog gets pushed off course before it lands. Sitting lower in the film than the lighter models, it drags a broad, heavy V-wake on a plain steady wind rather than skating across the top. The finishes are the distinguishing feature of this version — eight solid automotive-style colours with a detailed painted face and large moulded eyes, from Ferrari Red and Gold Master through to Black Cobra. A silicone skirt spreads behind the body, and a 2/0 double hook with a weed guard lets it be worked through light grass and surface vegetation, though no lure is completely snag-free.
Key Features
- Hard-body topwater frog, 5cm and 15g — the heaviest in the Triton range
- Weighted for long casts and for holding a line in wind
- Sits low in the film and pushes a heavy wake on a steady retrieve
- 2/0 double hook with a weed guard for light vegetation
- Flexible silicone skirt adds vibration behind the body
- Detailed painted finish with large moulded eyes
- Eight solid colour patterns, 01 to 08
How To Fish It
- Cover water at range — Fan-cast open reservoir arms and long weed lines, and work the lure the whole way back. The reason to carry this frog is the water the lighter ones cannot reach.
- Heavy wake retrieve — A constant medium-slow wind settles the body into the surface film and drags a broad wake that fish can track from well off to the side.
- Twitch and long pause — Two or three firm rod-tip twitches to swing the 5cm body wide, then stop for three seconds. Leave slack between twitches so each sweep can finish.
- Fish it when the wind is up — On chopped water the 15g body still makes a visible disturbance and casts accurately. Lighter frogs get lost in the waves and blown off target.
- Set on weight — The weed guard must be pushed down before the point is free, so wind through the blow-up, wait for the rod to load, then sweep sideways hard.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) on open reservoirs and drowned timber where casting distance decides how much water gets covered; striped snakehead (haruan) in wide canals; hampala barb (sebarau) on river weed lines; peacock bass around lily edges.
- North America — Largemouth bass on large lakes over hydrilla and pad fields, bowfin and chain pickerel in southern backwaters, northern snakehead in tidal rivers.
- Japan & East Asia — Snakehead (raigyo) on open canal and pond cover, catfish (namazu) at dusk, bass over shallow reservoir weed.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga and barramundi (siakap) in billabongs and weedy creek arms; pike over weed beds in European lakes and canals.
