LURESFACTORY - TR COMMON FROG 4.3cm 6.5g HARDBODY LURE TOPWATER
Luresfactory TR Common Frog 4.3cm 6.5g Hardbody Topwater
The TR Common Frog is the natural-finish version of the 4.3cm, 6.5g Common Frog body, released under the Triton line. The shape and the weight are unchanged, but the colour chart is completely different: instead of bright attractor patterns this one is painted in five muted frog tones — dark green, light green, green, grey brown and black brown — with a striped back and detailed eyes. That makes it the frog to reach for once a water has been worked over with high-visibility lures, or when the water is clear enough that fish get a long look before they commit. At 6.5g in a 4.3cm body it is light for its length, so it holds high on the film and can be crawled almost in place instead of ploughing. A silicone skirt trails behind the body, and the published hook is a 1/0 double set close along the rear, which keeps hook exposure lower than a treble around light grass — though no lure is completely snag-free.
Key Features
- Hard-body topwater frog, 4.3cm and 6.5g
- Five natural frog colours with striped back detail and moulded eyes
- Flexible silicone skirt adds movement behind the body on the retrieve and the pause
- 1/0 double hook mounted close to the rear of the body
- Light for its length, so it sits high and stays on the surface through long pauses
- Suits steady, twitching and pause-and-retrieve presentations
- Sized for grass edges, drains, margins and shallow structure
How To Fish It
- Quiet crawl — A slow constant wind with the rod tip low makes the body push a small, tidy wake. In clear or calm water this understated track often beats a noisier retrieve.
- Twitch pairs and a long stop — Two short taps, then stop for three or four seconds. Because the body floats high it will still be sitting there when a following fish makes up its mind.
- Trace the margin — Cast parallel to a reed wall, grass line or bank undercut and keep the frog within half a metre of it for the whole retrieve, rather than casting straight in and pulling away.
- First and last light — Natural colours work best when there is enough light for fish to inspect the lure. Fish it through the dawn and dusk windows and switch to a brighter frog under heavy cloud or stained water.
- Set on weight — A hard body will not compress, so striking at the splash pulls it clear. Keep winding through the blow-up, wait for the rod to load, then sweep sideways.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Striped snakehead (haruan) in paddy drains and pond margins; giant snakehead (toman) along weed edges in ex-mining lakes; hampala barb (sebarau) in clear river runs where a natural profile matters; peacock bass in lily pockets.
- North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on clear-water grass edges and pond banks, chain pickerel in weedy shallows, bowfin in southern backwaters.
- Japan & East Asia — Bass in shallow reservoir weed and irrigation ponds, snakehead (raigyo) on lighter cover, catfish (namazu) at dusk.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Sooty grunter and saratoga in creek pools and billabongs; perch, chub and pike over weed in European lakes and canals.

Recommended Pairing
- Medium to medium-heavy casting rod that loads with a 6.5g lure — a heavy mat rod is too stiff to work this frog
- 20–30 lb braid straight through, or braid to a short fluorocarbon leader in clear water
- Baitcaster rated for light lures, or a 2000–2500 spinning reel with a fast retrieve to recover slack after a take
