LURESFACTORY - TR BIG EYED FROG & JR. 4cm/4.5cm 6.5g/10.5g HARDBODY LURE TOPWATER
Luresfactory Triton Big Eyed Frog & Jr. 4cm / 4.5cm Hardbody Topwater
The Triton Big Eyed Frog is a compact frog-style surface lure built around one deliberate exaggeration: oversized, detailed eyes on a small resin body. From below, that high-contrast eye spot is the feature a predator locks onto, and it gives the lure a clear trigger point that a plain painted frog does not have. Flexible silicone skirt strands spread and pulse behind the body during the retrieve, adding vibration and a live, struggling look on the pause. A close-fitting double hook keeps hook exposure low, so the lure travels through light grass and surface vegetation with less snagging than a fully exposed treble, though no lure is completely snag-free.
Two sizes are offered, and they are genuinely different tools rather than the same lure scaled. The standard 4.5cm, 10.5g model carries a 2/0 hook: it casts further, pushes a bigger wake and is the version to use when you want a full-size surface profile or need to reach across open water. The Junior at 4cm and 6.5g takes a No. 1 hook, lands more quietly and works at slower speeds — the choice for pressured ponds, clear margins, smaller fish and any water where a big frog has already been shown to everything. Both run the same four colour patterns.
Key Features
- Compact frog-inspired resin body in two sizes: 4.5cm / 10.5g standard and 4cm / 6.5g Junior
- Large, realistic eyes give a clear visual target and strike point
- Flexible silicone skirt spreads and moves during the retrieve and pause
- Close-fitting double-hook configuration — 2/0 on the standard, No. 1 on the Junior
- Hook position helps the lure pass through light grass and surface vegetation
- Suits twitching, steady retrieve and pause techniques
- Four colour patterns, 01 to 04, in both sizes
How To Fish It
- Twitch and pause — Two or three short rod-tip twitches for an irregular frog-like scramble, then stop for two to three seconds. The skirt keeps breathing while the lure sits still, and most takes come during that stop.
- Steady surface swim — Wind at a constant unhurried speed so the body pushes a wake the whole way back. The 6.5g Junior holds this action at slower speeds than the 10.5g standard.
- Pick the size to the water — Open reservoir arms, wind and bigger fish call for the 4.5cm; drains, farm ponds, clear canal corners and heavily fished margins call for the Junior.
- Work the edge — Cast parallel to a grass line, reed wall or pad field and keep the lure within a rod length of it for the whole retrieve, instead of pulling out into open water.
- Pause before setting — Striking at the splash pulls a hard body clear of the fish. Wind through the blow-up, wait for the rod to load with weight, then sweep sideways.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) on weeded pond margins and drowned timber for the 4.5cm; striped snakehead (haruan) in canals, drains and paddy edges for the Junior; peacock bass in lily pockets; hampala barb (sebarau) on river weed lines.
- North America — Largemouth bass over pads, hydrilla and duckweed corners; chain pickerel and bowfin in southern backwaters; northern snakehead in tidal creeks.
- Japan & East Asia — Snakehead (raigyo) on canal and pond cover, catfish (namazu) at dusk, bass along shallow reservoir weed.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga in lily-covered billabongs and sooty grunter in creek pools; perch and pike over weed beds in European lakes and canals.
