LURESFACTORY - MF TREE FROG JR. 4cm 6.1g HARDBODY LURE TOPWATER
Luresfactory MF Tree Frog Jr. 4cm 6.1g Hardbody Topwater
The Tree Frog Jr. imitates the small tree frogs that live in branches over the water and land on the surface when they fall or jump, so it is built for casts placed under overhanging cover, along weed edges and into grass. The detailed body, large eyes and natural colour pattern give fish a clear target. A silicone skirt pulses on the retrieve and an internal rattle chamber adds sound, so fish can find it in stained water or inside vegetation. A premium double hook sits close to the body and an adjustable weed guard lets it travel through light cover with less snagging than an exposed-hook lure, though no lure is completely snag-free. The action is a gliding, walking and popping motion across the surface.
Of the small frogs in this range it carries the least weight for its body volume — 6.1g over 4cm, against 5.9g packed into the 3.5cm Poison Frog Jr. It rides higher in the film, keeps skating at a slow retrieve instead of ploughing, and sits on top of duckweed rather than pressing into it. The trade-off is range: 6.1g is a short-to-medium distance lure and a crosswind pushes it off line.

How To Fish It
- Cast under the branches — Put it as tight to overhanging cover as you can, let it sit three seconds, then start with two soft twitches. Fish under trees expect frogs to arrive from above.
- Walk the weed line — Rod tip low with a little slack, twitch at an even rhythm so the body swings left and right down the grass edge.
- Slow crawl over scum — Because it floats high you can wind slower than with a denser frog and it still pushes a wake across duckweed. Use it on cold mornings and pressured water.
- Twitch, pause, rattle — Two sharp taps to work the rattle, then stop for three seconds or more while the skirt breathes. Most takes come in the stop.
- Set late — The resin body cannot compress, so striking at the splash pulls it clear. Wind through the blow-up, wait for weight to load the rod, then sweep sideways.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Striped snakehead (haruan) under bank growth in drains and paddy channels; giant snakehead (toman) on weeded margins; peacock bass in shaded lily pockets; hampala barb (sebarau) under trees on river bends.
- North America — Largemouth bass under laydowns, willows and pad edges; chain pickerel and bowfin in shallow swamps; northern snakehead in tidal creeks.
- Japan & East Asia — Snakehead (raigyo) in canals and irrigation ponds, bass on shallow reservoir weed, catfish (namazu) at dusk.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga and sooty grunter under creek-arm cover; perch and small pike over weed in European lakes and canals.

Recommended Pairing
- Medium or medium-heavy rod that still loads with a 6.1g lure — a heavy frog stick will not cast this weight properly
- 20–30 lb braid straight through, enough to lift a fish out of grass without killing distance
- Baitcaster rated for light lures, or a 2000–2500 spinning reel with a fast retrieve
