LURESFACTORY - MF NEW POISON FROG 5cm 12.3g HARDBODY LURE TOPWATER
Luresfactory MF New Poison Frog 5cm 12.3g Hardbody Topwater
The New Poison Frog is a floating topwater lure built to create visible movement, splashes and vibration on the surface. The 5cm body and 12.3g weight give a substantial presentation while staying easy to cast accurately. The body takes its detail from poison frogs, with contrasting markings that stand out as a target, and a flexible silicone skirt spreads and pulses behind it on the retrieve. An internal rattling chamber adds sound and vibration, which helps around vegetation, in stained water and in low light. Close-fitting double hooks and an adjustable weed guard suit work through grass, weeds and light surface cover with less snagging than exposed hooks — no lure is completely snag-free. It can be popped, glided or walked: a steady retrieve gives continuous choppy movement, short rod twitches give a splashier, more irregular action, and a slow glide-and-pause with occasional pops is the answer when fish are not committing.
This is the larger of the two Poison Frog sizes in the range. The 3.5cm / 5.9g Poison Frog Jr. (SKU prefix 33LFMFPSFJ) is a short-to-medium range placement lure for fish feeding on small prey, and it carries ten patterns, most of them bright. The 5cm / 12.3g New Poison Frog (33LFMFNPF) is more than twice the weight: it casts far further, holds a line in wind, moves considerably more water, and is offered in four patterns that lean earthier — Green Dot, Brown Yellow, Black Orange and Brown. In practice the Jr. is the finesse and pressured-water option, and this one is the size you fish when you are deliberately filtering for bigger fish and accepting fewer bites to get them.

How To Fish It
- Choppy steady retrieve — Wind at a constant speed for continuous splash and rattle. Use it to cover grass edges, pad fields and canal margins.
- Twitch and pop — Short, uneven rod-tip taps break up the rhythm and throw spray. Vary the gaps rather than settling into a beat.
- Glide and pause — When fish are inactive, slow everything down: a long glide, a subtle pop, then a three-second stop while the skirt breathes.
- Adjust the guard — Tighten it for matted scum, open it out over clean water and light grass where too much guard costs hook-ups.
- Set late — Do not strike at the splash. Wind through the blow-up, wait a beat for the rod to load, then sweep sideways. If the fish misses, cast straight back to the same spot.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) on weeded reservoir margins; striped snakehead (haruan) in paddy drains and canals; peacock bass in lily pockets; hampala barb (sebarau) in coloured river water.
- North America — Largemouth bass over grass and duckweed corners; chain pickerel and bowfin in swamp backwaters; northern snakehead in tidal creeks.
- Japan & East Asia — Snakehead (raigyo) in canals and irrigation ponds; bass on shallow weedy margins; catfish (namazu) after dark, where the rattle helps.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga and sooty grunter in tannin-stained billabongs and creek pools; perch and pike over weed in European canals and lakes.
