The Bufo Mighty Mouse is a compact floating surface lure built around a mouse rather than a frog. That difference is the point of it. Predators in shallow water see frog and minnow profiles constantly; a rodent silhouette scrambling across the top is a shape they have usually not been shown, and it can turn fish that have refused frogs all season. At 5cm the body is small enough to cast into narrow openings, along grass edges and tight against structure, and it floats, so it stays on the surface whenever you stop winding. The front carries a double metal blade assembly that turns as the lure is drawn, throwing flash, vibration and a broken surface trail — a much noisier, more visible signature than a plain hard body of the same size. Behind it, flexible silicone skirt strands spread and pulse, adding movement in the water column below the surface disturbance. The combination of a mouse-shaped body, working blades and a live skirt gives a busy presentation that reads well in stained water and low light, where a quiet lure disappears. How To Fish It

• Steady retrieve to run the blades — Wind at a constant medium speed; the blades need forward motion to spin. This is the default search retrieve and it lays a continuous flash-and-vibration trail across the surface.
• Stop and go — Wind five turns, stop for two seconds, wind again. The blades stall on the stop and restart with a flare on the first turn, and that restart is what most fish hit.
• Twitch it along cover — Short rod-tip twitches make the body scramble irregularly, like a rodent that has fallen in and is trying to reach the bank. Work it along a reed wall, grass line or overhanging branch rather than out in open water.
• Night and dusk work — The blade flash and surface commotion make this a strong low-light lure. Slow the retrieve down after dark so fish can track the sound to it.
• Pause before setting — Striking at the splash pulls a hard body clear. Wind through the blow-up, wait for the rod to load with the fish, then sweep sideways.
