The Tougorou Siki-Kai Rikusengata is the heavy, shore-oriented end of the Tougorou Siki-Kai family — "rikusengata" marks the version built to be cast from land rather than dropped from a boat. Where the 60mm 5g Kotora sets cover micro jigging, the 28g and 38g models carry enough mass to punch into wind, hold their line in run-out current and reach fish sitting well off a breakwater wall. The body is a slim, streamlined baitfish form rather than a flat jig blank, with the balance point set in the centre, so it flashes and darts under rod work instead of dropping nose-first. An assist hook at the head pairs with a rear treble to convert the short takes that come on the fall. It suits mid-weight shore jigging (kishi-jigi) tackle in salt and fresh water alike.

How To Fish It

• One-pitch jerk — One sharp rod lift per reel turn, rhythm kept even. The jig rises and flashes on the lift, then slides away on the slack.
• Jerk-jerk-stop — Two fast jerks, then a full stop of two to three seconds on a semi-slack line. Most takes come during that stop and show as a tick or a line that stops falling early.
• Straight fast retrieve — Wind steadily with no rod work when mackerel or small trevally are pushing bait on top. The slim body tracks straight at speed.
• Bottom lift and drop — Let it reach bottom, lift slowly to about eleven o'clock, then drop and let it fall back. Work drop-offs, reef edges and breakwater walls.
