The Tougorou Siki-Kai Rikusengata series is a Japanese light-game line built around a realistic baitfish form, high flash, and a balanced centre-weighted body. The Kotora is the ultra-light 5g model in that series, aimed at smaller predators that will not commit to a full-size jig. At 60mm it carries a slim, pencil-form profile with a centre balance point, so it rolls on the lift and slides away on the drop instead of dropping straight down like a conventional lead jig. That rolling-and-sliding fall is what makes it work in the shallow, current-swept water where shore micro jigging happens — harbour mouths, breakwater corners, reservoir points and estuary drop-offs. It is supplied in three-piece colour sets rather than single colours.

How To Fish It

• Shore micro jigging (one-pitch) — Cast, count the jig down, then work one sharp rod lift per reel turn. Keep the rhythm even; the jig rolls up on the lift and slides on the slack.
• Jerk and stop — Two or three quick jerks, then a full stop of two to three seconds on a semi-slack line. Most takes come during that pause, so watch the line rather than waiting to feel it.
• Slow lift and free fall — Lift the tip from horizontal to about 11 o'clock, then drop it and let the jig glide back on a controlled slack line. Use this over drop-offs and breakwater walls.
• Bottom-bump retrieve — Wind slowly so the jig ticks bottom every few turns, kicking up small puffs. Effective on sand and gravel flats.

Recommended Pairing

• Light game or ultralight spinning rod of 7 to 8 feet rated roughly 1 to 10g, with a tip that loads on a 5g cast
• 1000 to 2500 size spinning reel with PE 0.3 to 0.6 braid for bite detection on the drop
• 6 to 12 lb fluorocarbon leader, one to two rod lengths, so the jig can slide freely
