The Gillary-01 is a compact jointed minnow that delivers an articulated swimming action in a body small enough for light game and finesse freshwater work. The finish extends to a vivid crimson gill structure, and several colours use a half gill cover so the red shows only as a flash on the turn. The joint earns its place at low speed: the rear section keeps swinging on a retrieve slow enough that a one-piece minnow this size would hang dead. Being a sinking lure it counts down to a chosen band, and it ships with BKK hooks fitted.

How To Fish It

• Slow steady retrieve — The core presentation. Count the lure down, then wind as slowly as you can while still feeling the rear section work. A hard thump means you are winding too fast; back off until it is a soft roll.
• Countdown and swim — Count in one-second increments to find the holding depth, then repeat that exact count along harbour walls, over submerged weed and down current seams.
• Twitch and pause — Two light twitches with the tip low, then stop and let it sink on a semi-slack line. The joint folds and flashes on the pause, which is the trigger for followers.
• Drift and swing — Cast up and across, keep light contact and let the current swing the lure through the seam — standard for stream trout.

• Ultralight to light spinning rod, 6 to 7 feet, rated roughly 1 to 8g, with a soft tip
• 1000 to 2500 spinning reel with PE 0.2 to 0.5 braid, or 3 to 6 lb nylon in streams
