Little Jack Borash 75mm 7g Topwater Floating Popper

The Borash is a small floating popper built to imitate a baitfish struggling at the surface rather than to make the loudest possible noise. Its cup is offset and transparent, so the lure spits to one side and slides off line under the splash, tracking as a wounded fish would instead of chugging straight. An open mouth and a water duct running through the head let water pass through the body rather than piling up in front of it, which cuts drag and lets the lure respond to the smallest rod input. At 75 mm and 7 g it works on a gentle wrist action, throwing the triangular surface wave that draws fish from a distance in calm water, while a feathered rear hook keeps something moving during the pauses.

Key Features

  • Compact 75 mm / 7 g floating popper for realistic surface presentations
  • Offset transparent cup produces sharp pops and a side-sliding, wounded-baitfish track
  • Open mouth and water duct reduce drag and improve response to small rod inputs
  • Natural rolling action that throws a triangular surface wave on a simple retrieve
  • Feathered rear hook adds flash and movement while the lure sits still
  • Floating balance suited to calm water, shade lines and structure edges

How To Fish It

  • Pop and pause — Two short wrist pops, then let it sit until the rings fade. Most fish take it dead still, so resist winding early.
  • Continuous walking pop — Wind steadily while tapping the rod tip in rhythm so the lure slides side to side and spits water without leaving the surface. Effective at first light and in low chop.
  • Shade line work — Cast tight to mangrove edges, pontoons and bridge shadow, then work it out slowly along the shade edge where ambush fish sit.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack along mangrove edges and pontoons, small queenfish over shallow flats, and hampala barb (sebarau) and peacock bass in reservoirs.
  • North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on lake edges, plus speckled trout, small striped bass and bluefish over inshore grass and sand.
  • Japan & East Asia — Shore seabass (suzuki), black sea bream (kurodai / chinu) taken on surface tackle, and small trevally and horse mackerel in harbours.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, bream and estuary perch in creeks; small queenfish on Gulf flats; perch, chub, asp and European bass on rivers and coastal shallows.
