Little Jack Amezaiku JP 45mm / 55mm Sinking Pencil

The Amezaiku JP is a micro sinking pencil built for the situation that beats most tackle boxes: fish feeding hard on bait only a few centimetres long. The curved polycarbonate resin body carries a holographic interior, printed detail and 3D eyes, so at rest it reads as a single translucent whitebait or anchovy fry rather than a lure. Construction is through-wire, and multi-purpose eyes let the supplied BKK single hook be mounted at the belly or at the tail. That one detail changes the lure's job: rigged at the rear it fishes on its own as a sinking pencil, and rigged forward it works as a trailer behind a bow-angle (yumizuno) or casting-sinker rig.

Key Features

  • Micro sinking pencil matched to shirasu, kibinago and katakuchi (anchovy) fry patterns
  • Polycarbonate resin body with through-wire construction
  • Multi-purpose eyes accept belly or tail hook mounting
  • Movable hook system for quick hook changes
  • Supplied with BKK single hooks, sized to the body
  • Dense body casts well on ultralight tackle

How To Fish It

  • Twitch and glide — Sink it to the feeding depth, give two or three short rod-tip twitches, then pause. The body darts and settles nose-down; most bites land on the pause.
  • Count-down and slow wind — Count the lure down in one-second steps to find the layer holding fish, then wind just fast enough to feel it. Repeat the same count after each bite.
  • Trailer behind a bow-angle or casting sinker — Run it on a short leader behind the weight for surf and breakwater work when fish are on tiny bait but out of casting range.
  • Night light game — Drift it through the shadow line of jetty and harbour lights where fry gather, rod low, letting the current do the work.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Small trevally and queenfish off breakwaters, mangrove jack on rock walls, juvenile barramundi (siakap) on lit jetties, and hampala barb (sebarau) in reservoir inflows.
  • North America — Speckled trout, small striped bass and shad-feeding schoolies inshore; crappie, perch and stream trout inland on ultralight gear.
  • Japan & East Asia — A core ajing and mebaring lure for horse mackerel (aji) and rockfish (mebaru, kasago), also used on shore seabass (suzuki) during micro-bait patterns and on native stream trout.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Bream and whiting in estuaries; small queenfish on Gulf flats; perch, chub and trout in European rivers and canals.
