HINOTSU - SP-1 SPECIAL JIG SNAP 7719 FISHING SNAP
Hinotsu SP-1 Special Jig Snap 7719
The Hinotsu SP-1 is a heavy-duty saltwater snap made in Japan for connecting metal jigs and other lures without cutting and retying the leader. Where a general-purpose snap is bent from light wire and can spring open or distort under load, the SP-1 uses heavy-gauge wire and a locking structure that holds shut under sustained tension. The compact shape is deliberate: it sits close to the jig's nose eye and leaves the lure free to slide, flutter and dart, instead of hanging stiff off an oversized clip. A rounded upper eye gives the leader, solid ring or swivel a clean bearing surface, and the black nickel coating resists rust and wear. Two strength options are offered: Size S rated to 180 lb and Size M rated to 230 lb.
Key Features
- Heavy-duty pulling strength for high-load saltwater jigging
- Secure locking mechanism in heavy-gauge wire, resisting accidental opening during a fight
- Compact jig-action profile that lets the lure move naturally underwater
- Quick lure changes without cutting and retying the leader
- Black nickel corrosion-resistant coating against rust, wear and saltwater exposure
- Rounded upper connection eye for a leader, solid ring or swivel
- Made in Japan; Size S rated 180 lb, Size M rated 230 lb
How To Rig It
- Direct to the leader — Tie the leader straight to the snap's rounded eye with a snug uni or improved clinch, wet the knot before seating it, and clip the jig in. The fastest working system when you are searching for depth.
- Behind a solid ring — For heavier drag settings, run leader to a solid ring and hang the snap off the ring rather than the knot, so the ring absorbs the abrasion and the snap only carries the jig.
- Check the gate every drop — Close the snap fully, then pull the jig sideways against it before sending it down. A snap that has been loaded hard and no longer clicks shut cleanly is finished.
- Size to the fight, not the jig — Size S for lighter jigging and mid-size pelagics, Size M where fish run heavy and the drag is locked up. The snap must never be the weakest link.
- Replace after hard use — Rinse in fresh water after every trip. Any snap showing rust bloom in the gate, or one that has already taken a serious fish, gets retired rather than reused.
