Hinotsu PE Lotion Spray forms a light protective coating over fishing line to reduce surface friction during casting and retrieval. The smoother line travels more freely through the rod guides, which helps casting performance while reducing unnecessary wear on the line itself.

The problem it addresses is what happens to braid over a season. PE is a bundle of fine fibres, and every cast drags those fibres across guide rings and the spool lip. They fray, the line goes furry, and a furred line grips the guides and picks up more friction on the next cast. Salt water compounds it: dried salt crystals sit in the weave, stiffen the line and act as an abrasive. Regular application helps prevent line fibres from becoming dry, rough or damaged through repeated casting, reduces tangles, stops line sticking against the rod or spool, and extends the usable service life of braided line. It will not repair line that is already frayed, cut or wind-knotted — damaged line gets cut off and replaced. This is maintenance, not repair. The fine spray nozzle allows controlled application directly onto a loaded reel spool, and the 50 ml bottle fits a tackle bag or boat box.

How To Use It

• After spooling new line — Spray the filled spool as you turn the handle slowly, so the coating reaches the line underneath the top layers rather than just the surface wraps. Do this before the first trip and the line beds in smoother.
• Before a casting session — A light pass over the spool before you start is worth more distance than most anglers expect, particularly on long-casting shore work with fine PE where guide friction is the limiting factor.
• After every saltwater trip — Rinse the reel and line in fresh water first and let it dry, then apply. Spraying over dried salt just seals the salt in. The rinse is the important half of the routine; the lotion is what goes on afterwards.
• Mid-session on the boat — If the line starts squealing through the guides or the spool sounds sticky on the cast, a quick pass usually settles it. Keep the spray off the rod grip and deck.
• Know its limits — This protects sound line and slows the rate at which it degrades. It does not restore broken fibres or strength already lost. If the last twenty metres are furred, cut them off, reverse the spool, or respool.
