HAYABUSA - ASSIST TIN COAT HOOK EB133N1 MADE IN JAPAN
Hayabusa Assist Tin Coat Hook EB133N1 — Made In Japan
The EB133N1 is the Hayabusa 133 assist hook supplied loose — bare hooks only, with no cord, no solid rings and nothing tied. It is the same pattern Hayabusa build their finished 133 Tin assists around: a curved shank with a long tapered point, under a super anti-rust tin coating that holds off salt corrosion and keeps the point sharp through a season. What changes is who does the assembly. The attachment end is flattened into a spade so it can be whipped directly onto braided assist cord, putting cord strength, cord length and rig geometry in your hands. Assist length is the one variable that has to be matched to the jig on the day, and a packet of loose hooks lets you build short-cord twins for narrow jigs and long-cord singles for wide ones from the same box. Five sizes, #1 to #4/0.
Key Features
- Loose format — hooks only, no cord and no rings, for fully custom assist builds
- Hayabusa 133 pattern: curved shank with a long tapered point
- Super anti-rust tin coating for salt water, protecting the point as well as the wire
- Flattened spade end designed to be bound or whipped onto braided assist cord
- Five sizes, #1 to #4/0, from light game to heavier offshore jigging; made in Japan
How To Rig It
- Binding the hook — Lay the cord along the spade end, whip it down tightly with rigging thread, then seal the wrap with a thin adhesive or heat-shrink tube. A neat, fully covered wrap is what stops the cord chafing through.
- Choosing cord length — Measure against the jig you will fish. Short cords keep the point tight to the body and foul less, the choice for narrow speed jigs nose-mounted for vertical work. Longer cords give reach on wide slow-pitch jigs, at the cost of wrapping the leader more often on the drop.
- Single or twin — A twin, equal length or deliberately staggered, converts more of the half-hearted swipes you get when fish follow instead of committing. A single fouls far less on rock, rope and leader, so keep singles for foul ground and for jigs already carrying a rear treble.
- Matching hook to jig — The gape should look proportionate to the jig body width. Connect through a solid ring and a heavy split ring; cord bearing on a split-ring seam is the usual reason an assist fails.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Reef and wreck jigging for gerepoh (giant trevally), tenggiri (Spanish mackerel), ikan merah (red snapper) and kerapu (grouper) off Rompin, Sabah and eastern Indonesia.
- North America — Amberjack, grouper and snapper on Gulf and Atlantic wrecks; yellowtail, rockfish and lingcod on the Pacific side.
- Japan & East Asia — Buri and hiramasa on vertical and speed jigging, madai and kasago on slow pitch, and tachiuo at night.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Yellowtail kingfish and samson fish on Australian reefs; cobia and queenfish in the Gulf; pollack and cod on European wrecks.
