DUEL - L-BASS PENCIL POPPER 110mm 15g FLOATING F1237 FISHING LURES
Duel L-Bass Pencil Popper 110mm 15g Floating F1237
The L-Bass Pencil Popper is a surface plug from Duel's L-Bass range, the freshwater black bass line built to put the company's casting and finish technology into a value-priced series. It is a hybrid: the body walks side to side like a pencil bait, while a cup cut into the nose spits water and blows bubbles on every sharp jerk. An internal fixed weight gives a single loud knock rather than a rattle cluster, so it carries sound across a windy flat. At 110mm and 15g it is a searching-size topwater, thrown a long way and worked quickly to find active surface fish.
Key Features
- Pencil and popper hybrid: walk-the-dog action plus cup-mouth splash and spit
- One-knock internal sound from a fixed weight, audible over surface chop
- Fixed-weight layout, so the lure starts working immediately after splashdown
- Rear-weighted body rated by Duel to a maximum cast of 35m
- Lens-finish internal reflectors on back, belly and flanks throw light in several directions
- Feathered rear treble that keeps moving on the pause
- Floating, #6 trebles on #3 split rings
How To Fish It
- Walk the dog — Rod tip down, short rhythmic twitches with slack between each one. Keep the cadence even; the knock lands on every direction change and does most of the calling.
- Pop and pause — A harder single jerk loads the cup and throws water; then leave it dead two to four seconds while the feather breathes. Most eats come on the pause, so wait for weight before setting.
- Search retrieve — Fan-cast points, weed edges, laydowns and pontoon lines with a fast continuous walk, then slow down once you get a swirl.
- Low-light windows — First and last light and overcast days suit a 110mm surface plug; wind lanes and current seams concentrate bait.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) and haruan over lily pads and flooded timber, peacock bass in reservoirs, hampala barb (sebarau) on river bends, barramundi (siakap) at jetty lights.
- North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on lakes and reservoirs, plus striped bass and speckled trout where fish are feeding on top.
- Japan & East Asia — Black bass in lakes and rivers, the fishery this series was built for; also usable on seabass in calm harbours.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, estuary perch and saratoga; pike, perch and asp in European rivers and canals; queenfish over Gulf flats.
