DUEL - HARDCORE 50mm F1079 SINKING PENCIL FISHING LURES
Duel Hardcore 50mm F1079 Sinking Pencil Fishing Lures
The Duel Hardcore 50mm Sinking Pencil is a finesse-sized lipless bait for fish that will not commit to a full-sized lure. At 50mm and 4g it presents a small, honest baitfish silhouette, and because it sinks rather than floats you can hold it in the top layer or let it drop into a gutter without changing lures. Duel's Magnet Weight Transfer System makes the size workable from shore: an internal weight shifts rearward during the cast so a 4g body still carries into wind, then returns forward for a stable retrieve posture. Worked steadily it wobbles subtly; left to fall it flutters on its side like a dying baitfish. Running depth is only 0–30cm on a normal retrieve, which makes it a specialist over reef tops, sand flats, rocky shallows and estuary drains where deeper lures foul. F1079 is a discontinued Duel model number, so the colours listed are what remains available.
Key Features
- Compact lipless sinking pencil, 50mm / 4g
- Magnet Weight Transfer System for long casts on ultralight tackle
- Running depth approximately 0–30cm on a steady retrieve
- Subtle wobble on the wind, fluttering fall on the pause
- Rigged with a #12 treble hook and a #1 flat split ring
- Responds to twitch, jerk and straight retrieve
- UV, holographic and natural baitfish finishes
How To Fish It
- Steady shallow retrieve — Cast, start winding immediately and keep the rod tip high so the lure stays in the top 30cm over reef, weed or sand.
- Countdown into holes — Over deeper pockets and drains, let it sink two or three seconds before winding, then repeat with a longer count to find the fish.
- Twitch and drop — Two light twitches followed by a one-second pause. The flutter on the drop is what converts followers, so watch the line for slack-line takes.
- Current seams — Cast up-current at a river mouth or drain and let the lure swing through the seam on a semi-tight line, twitching occasionally.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Small trevally, queenfish, flathead and juvenile barramundi (siakap) off jetties, sand flats and river mouths; sebarau and small peacock bass on light freshwater gear.
- North America — Speckled trout, small redfish, ladyfish and school stripers inshore; crappie, perch and trout in fresh water.
- Japan & East Asia — A light game (light shore jigging and mebaru-class) lure for small seabass, mackerel, rockfish (mebaru, kasago) and flatfish from breakwaters and beaches.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Bream, whiting, flathead and Australian salmon in estuaries; small queenfish on Gulf flats; perch, trout and chub in European rivers and lakes.

Recommended Pairing
- 6'–7'6" ultralight or light spinning rod rated roughly 2–10g, with a soft tip to protect the small treble
- 0.3–0.6 PE braid with an 8–12 lb fluorocarbon leader, or 4–6 lb fluorocarbon straight through
- 1000–2500 size spinning reel
- Keep the leader light in clear shallow water — heavy terminal tackle kills the action on a 4g lure
