The Duel Hardcore Longbill 90SP is a deep-diving suspending minnow built for anglers who need to get a lure down to 3 metres and keep it there. The extended lip pulls the body down on the first few turns of the handle, so the lure spends most of the cast inside the strike zone instead of travelling to it — the difference matters when running a lure past a submerged tree or along a rock ledge. Because it suspends, stopping the retrieve leaves the lure hanging motionless at depth in front of a following fish, which is often what converts a follow into a take in cold or pressured water. Duel's magnetic weight transfer system shifts the internal weight rearward in flight for long casts, then returns it forward so the lure runs true. A straight wind gives a tight wobble; jerks make it dart hard to the side. It works equally well cast from the bank or trolled behind a boat.

How To Fish It

• Crank down and pause — Wind fast for the first five or six turns to drive the lure to depth, then hold a steady pace with a two-second stop every few metres. Takes usually come on the stop.
• Jerk and suspend — Two sharp downward jerks on slack line, then a pause of two to four seconds while the lure hangs. Lengthen the pause as the water cools.
• Deflect off structure — Aim the retrieve so the lip bumps timber or rip-rap. The stall and recovery after contact triggers ambush predators.
• Trolling — Run it 20–30 m behind the boat at walking pace along drop-offs and weed lines to locate fish before switching to casting.
