Duel EZ-Slim Cloth 70mm / 80mm / 95mm Sutte — A1867 / A1626 / A1627
The ez-SLIM Cloth is Duel's slim-bodied sutte — a cloth-wrapped squid jig built deliberately narrower than a conventional egi. Less section means less water resistance, so it drops faster and truer and holds position under the boat when the tide runs or the water is deep, the conditions that push a fat-bodied jig off the mark. Two patented parts do the work: a Rolling Shaft that lets the body turn freely so the line does not twist and the jig wavers in the flow, and a Wave Motion Body whose shaped surface throws a stronger vibration than a plain squid profile. Real feather legs flutter at the tail. This is not a casting jig — it is the soft dropper hung above a metal lead jig in ika-metal and omorig fishing.
Key Features
- Slim section — lower drag, faster straighter fall, better position holding in current
- Rolling Shaft (patented) — free-turning body prevents line twist and adds natural waver
- Wave Motion Body (patented) — shaped body generates vibration a plain profile cannot
- Real feather legs that flutter on the drop and the pause
- Cloth body in luminous, blue-glow, UV-reactive and System Colour finishes
- Y2 crown hooks; three sizes — 70mm/3g, 80mm/4g, 95mm/6g
How To Fish It
- Rig it as a dropper — Tie it to a 30–50 cm branch line set 50–100 cm above a metal lead jig. The metal supplies the weight; this jig supplies the appeal and usually takes the bites.
- Choosing the size — 70mm when squid are small, pressured or picking at a big jig; 80mm as the everyday size; 95mm for larger squid, coloured water, or to be seen at depth. On a two-branch rig run two sizes and let the squid choose.
- Lift, drop, stop — Raise the tip 30–50 cm, lower it under control, then stop dead for three to five seconds. The Rolling Shaft keeps the body wavering while everything else is still, and that is when squid commit.
- Omorig drifting — With a sinker above and this jig trailing, hold the rod almost still and let the drift work the feathers. Watch the line angle, not the tip.
- Charge the glow — Hold luminous colours under a deck light or UV torch for 20–30 seconds before each drop.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Bigfin reef squid (sotong torak) and cuttlefish (sotong katak) on candat sotong night boats out of Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, southern Thailand and Indonesia, under the lamps over reef edges.
- North America — Market squid on the US West Coast from night boats and lit harbour walls in California.
- Japan & East Asia — Kensaki-ika, yariika and surumeika on ika-metal and omorig trips, and aoriika where a soft dropper beats a hard egi. This is the fishery it was designed around.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari and arrow squid over weed and reef in southern Australia; cuttlefish on Gulf marks; European squid and cuttlefish on Mediterranean night grounds.
