DUEL - EZ-FIN MINI METAL 75g A1752 SQUID BAIT SQUID JIG
Duel EZ-Fin Mini Metal 75g A1752 Squid Jig
The ez-FIN Mini Metal sits in a different job to the rest of Duel's squid range. The cloth sutte and slow-sinking jigs are droppers — light bodies that ride on a branch line and rely on something heavier to reach the fish. At 75g (size 20) this is that heavier thing: the main metal jig at the bottom of an ika-metal rig, carrying the whole rig down, holding it at depth against tide and drift, and taking the squid that want a bigger, faster-moving target. Fins on the top and side of the body are the defining feature. A dense 75g metal body dropped on a thin braid wants to spin and tumble, which twists line and kills the fall; the fins stabilise it so it goes down nose-first on a predictable line and stays where you put it. Fitted with M2 hooks.
Key Features
- 75g (size 20) metal squid jig — the main weight of an ika-metal rig, not a dropper
- Top and side fins stabilise the fall and stop the body spinning or tumbling
- Compact dense body for a fast drop through deep water and running tide
- M2 hook type; four colours: BLPR, KVUH, LRPU, SRIW
How To Fish It
- Bottom of the rig — Tie it at the end of an ika-metal leader with one or two cloth sutte on short branch lines 50–100cm above it. This jig sets the depth and the rhythm; the droppers add appeal. Expect takes on both.
- Drop, wind up, hold — Free-spool to the bottom, wind up two or three turns and hold dead still. Search upward in stages of three turns until a squid comes, then repeat that exact count off the bottom on every drop.
- Deep water and fast drift — 75g is a working weight for depths and currents where a 20–40g jig starts streaming away from the boat. If your line still angles off hard, the answer is thinner braid before more weight; if the jig drops like a stone with no life, go lighter.
- Shake and stop — Small fast wrist shakes for two or three seconds, then a long dead pause. The fins keep the jig upright through the pause instead of letting it lie over, which keeps the hooks presented.
- Wind steadily once hooked — Lean the rod over to load it and wind at one constant speed all the way up. From this depth a pumped rod puts slack in the line and squid drop off barbless crowns.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Bigfin reef squid (sotong torak) and cuttlefish on deeper candat sotong grounds off Terengganu, Pahang and the east coast islands, and on offshore wrecks and reef drops where the tide runs hard.
- North America — Market squid and larger Humboldt squid on Pacific night charters, and squid taken deliberately as fresh bait ahead of rockfish, halibut and tuna trips.
- Japan & East Asia — Kensaki-ika, yariika and surumeika on ika-metal boats, especially Sea of Japan grounds fished in depth and current — the fishery this weight class exists for.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Arrow squid and southern calamari from boats over deep reef in southern Australia; cuttlefish on deeper Gulf marks; European squid on Mediterranean and Atlantic night grounds fished vertically.
