AMERICAN TACKLE - RING LOCK GUIDE CASTING BLACK 64DBRLC FISHING ROD GUIDE
American Tackle Ring Lock Guide Casting Black 64DBRLC
This is the black-finish casting guide of the 64 Ring Lock range: a Dura ring in a black frame, sold as single guides in 6, 8, 10, 12 and 16 mm. The RLC suffix marks the baitcasting side of the family: line leaves a levelwind spool in a straight, tight path and does not need the big collecting rings a spinning build demands, which is why the ladder starts small and tops out at 16 mm. Ring Lock is American Tackle's patented ring seat (US Patent D627,032), which the maker describes as a pressure-fit ring in an enlarged glue reservoir with increased contact area, aimed at stopping ring loss and taking impact.
Key Features
- Casting-specific guide range, matched to levelwind and low-profile reels
- Dura ring in a black finish, frame and ring both dark
- Ring Lock pressure-fit ring seat with enlarged glue reservoir (US Patent D627,032)
- Five ring sizes: 6, 8, 10, 12 and 16 mm
- Model 64DBRLC, SKUs coded by ring size
How To Build With It
- Choosing the stripper — On a casting build the first guide sits close to the blank and only has to gather a narrow line path. The 16 mm is the stripper for most bass, snakehead and light inshore builds; drop to 12 mm on shorter, faster rods.
- Stepping the train down — Work 16 to 12 to 10 mm over the first third, then hold 8 mm and 6 mm as running guides to the tip so the line is nearly straight before the tip top.
- Guides on top — Casting rods carry guides on the upper side of the blank. Fit them along the blank's spine, then static test: hang a weight from the tip and shift guides until no flat spot shows in the line path.
- Protecting the finish — Black shows scuffs sooner than chrome. Mask the frames while filing feet and wipe epoxy squeeze-out before it cures.
