Yozuri Egi Aurie-Q Yakushima R1084 / R1085 / R1086 Luminous Body Squid Jig

Aurie-Q is the flagship squid jig family from Yo-Zuri and DUEL, named after aoriika — the bigfin reef squid — and the Yakushima is its full-glow member, carrying a Japanese place name the way several Aurie-Q variants do. Most egi place luminous material on belly panels or stripes; on the Yakushima the whole body glows beneath the cloth wrap, so the entire silhouette lights up instead of a few patches. Yo-Zuri builds the body from high-strength ABS for a precise, repeatable balance, and finishes it in cloth so the surface has the texture a squid can grip. Three sizes cover #2.5, #3.0 and #3.5, the standard shore and boat range.

How To Fish It

• Charge the glow before every cast — A luminous body is a battery, not a paint job. Hold a torch or UV light on it for several seconds before each drop; the glow is brightest in the first minute, which is exactly when the jig is falling through the strike zone.
• Shakuri jerk and pause — Tip low, snap the rod up two to four times so the jig darts, then stop dead and let it settle nose-down. Squid do not bite, they wrap the body with their arms, and they almost always do it on the fall.
• Sweep, never strike — If the line stops, jumps or drifts sideways, lean into the weight and wind under steady tension. A hard hook set tears tentacles off the crown.
• Fish the dark side of light — Under jetty lamps or boat lights, work the shadow line rather than the bright centre. A full-glow body is easiest for the squid to track coming out of the dark water into the edge of the light.

• Southeast Asia — Candat sotong for bigfin reef squid (sotong torak) and cuttlefish (sotong katak) from lit jetties, kelong platforms and night boats off Terengganu, Johor, southern Thailand and the Indonesian islands.
• North America — Market squid worked down the pilings at lit California piers and harbour walls after dark.
• Japan & East Asia — Shore eging for aoriika, plus kensaki-ika and surume-ika on boat drifts; the same jigs are fished in Korea and Taiwan.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari and cuttlefish over seagrass in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania; European squid and cuttlefish on Mediterranean and Atlantic night marks.
