Yozuri Egi Aurie-Q Finace A1753 Squid Jig — #2.5, 10 g

Finace is the fin-stabilised Aurie-Q, a refinement of the earlier Aurie-Q Ace. It carries horizontal side fins and a vertical tail fin, and their job is subtraction rather than addition: the vertical fin restrains body roll and doubles as a bite indicator, while the horizontal fins damp the vertical wobble that makes a jig look wrong to a following squid. What remains is a clean, level fall. Driving that fall is the Katana sinker, a blade-shaped weight that swings the jig hard sideways on a twitch so it darts like a prawn breaking cover. At #2.5 and 10 g it is balanced for a controlled descent of roughly 5.2 sec/m — a slow, patient rate that keeps the jig in the strike zone far longer than its weight suggests.

Key Features

  • Stabiliser fin design — vertical tail fin restrains roll and shows the take, horizontal fins damp vertical wobble
  • Katana sinker for a sharp, wide side-to-side dart
  • Size #2.5 at 10 g with a controlled sink rate of roughly 5.2 sec/m
  • NEONFLASH glow and UV-reactive cloth finishes for low light and murky water
  • Precision stainless Trick Hook crowns
  • Refined development of the Aurie-Q Ace series
  • Twenty colour codes across glow, UV and natural patterns

How To Fish It

  • Use the slow fall deliberately — At 5.2 sec/m this jig takes about half a minute to reach six metres. That is the point. Over shallow weed or a pressured jetty, let it hang and drift rather than racing it to the bottom.
  • Twitch, do not haul — The Katana sinker responds to a short, sharp flick. Two or three crisp twitches with the tip low will throw the jig sideways; heavy heaving just drags it upward without the dart.
  • Watch the vertical fin — With the roll damped, the jig sits still on the pause and any deviation in the line is real. If it stops falling, drifts sideways or goes light, sweep smoothly into the weight; never strike, because squid hold with their arms and tear off.
  • Match the finish to the light — UV colours need daylight or a UV torch to fluoresce and work best in clear water; glow finishes need charging and carry further into darkness and stained water.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Candat sotong for bigfin reef squid (sotong torak) and cuttlefish (sotong katak) from jetties, kelong and anchored night boats, where a slow fall through a light pool draws squid that ignore a fast jig.
  • North America — Market squid held under California pier and harbour lights, worked slowly down the pilings.
  • Japan & East Asia — Shore eging for aoriika, especially on pressured marks and in clear autumn water; also kensaki-ika on slow boat drifts, and widely fished in Korea and Taiwan.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari over shallow seagrass in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania, where a slow fall over weed is the standard presentation; European squid and cuttlefish on Mediterranean night marks.
