The Finesse ShadZ pairs a slim, shad-shaped body with a thin whip-like worm tail that comes alive with the slightest movement — the reason it works when fish shut down and a bulkier bait gets ignored. It is moulded in soft, buoyant ElaZtech, so a nose-hooked bait sits up and the tail keeps quivering on a dead-still drop shot. A belly hook slot allows clean weedless rigging, and Z-Man rates the 10X Tough construction as resisting the nose tears that finish a conventional finesse plastic. Tested on largemouth, spotted bass, smallmouth and walleye; supplied 4" long, eight per pack.

How To Fish It

• Ned rig — Thread it onto a 1/10–1/6 oz mushroom head so the tail stands up off the bottom. Drag a few inches, pause 5–10 seconds, and let the buoyant body work. Most bites come on the pause.
• Drop shot — Nose-hook it on a size 1–2 finesse hook 30–60 cm above the sinker and shake the rod tip on slack line, weight planted. Strong over deep rock and standing timber.
• Damiki / hover rig — Nose-hook it on a horizontal-eye jig head and hold it in front of fish marked on sonar, moving it as little as possible.
• Split shot and ChatterBait trailer — Pinch a split shot 60 cm up the leader and drag it across flats, or slide it onto a bladed jig as a slim trailer that adds movement, not bulk.

• Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) on a Ned rig over reservoir rock bars, peacock bass and giant snakehead (toman) in clear water, plus mangrove jack drop-shotted around structure.
• North America — Smallmouth bass on Ned and drop shot rigs across Great Lakes and Ozark rock; largemouth and spotted bass on pressured reservoirs; walleye on a split shot or Damiki rig over deep flats; crappie on light gear; inshore speckled trout and flounder on a light jig head.
• Japan & East Asia — Largemouth bass at Lake Biwa and Kasumigaura where finesse is standard, plus rockfish (mebaru, kasago) on light game tackle around breakwaters.
