YOZURI - ULTRA 3D CLOTH 85mm/95mm A1797/A1798 SQUID JIG SQUID FISHING
Yozuri Ultra 3D Cloth Squid Jig 85 mm / 95 mm — A1797 / A1798, M2 Crown
Ultra 3D Cloth takes the patented 3D prism lens used in Yo-Zuri's laser bodies and puts it under a fabric wrap, so one jig gives you both halves of the problem: the prism scatters light from several angles to pull squid in, and the cloth gives them something soft to hold once they arrive. The wrap is Half-Ghost cloth, a patented semi-transparent fabric that lets the internal prism tape show through — a solid cloth body would kill the flash. Yo-Zuri publishes the design as slow-floating, holding a horizontal posture even in weak current, which makes it a long-pause jig rather than a worked one. Colours follow Yo-Zuri's System Color scheme, with CL codes for the clear-glow family and KV codes for the UV-reactive (keimura) finishes.
Key Features
- Two sizes: A1798 at 85 mm (SS) and A1797 at 95 mm (S), both with the M2 crown
- Patented 3D prism lens working through the fabric, not behind it
- Patented Half-Ghost semi-transparent cloth wrap
- Slow-floating body that keeps a level posture in weak current
- System Color range: CL clear-glow codes and KV UV-reactive codes
- Swivel-mounted eye to limit line twist on branch rigs
How To Fish It
- Hold, do not work it — Set the jig at the depth marking squid, tighten until the branch line is just straight, and leave it for fifteen to twenty seconds. A slow-floating body signals on its own; working it hard only lifts it out of the zone.
- Short lifts between holds — Thirty to forty centimetres of rod tip, then settle and hold again. Repeat the same cycle so you can count how deep the takes are coming.
- Pick CL or KV by the light — Charge the CL clear-glow finishes under a deck light for twenty to thirty seconds when squid are coming to the lamps. Switch to the KV keimura colours in daylight, at dawn and dusk, and in green or tea-coloured water, where UV response beats stored glow.
- Drop a size when they follow and let go — The 85 mm answers squid that touch and release the 95 mm: same body, same flash, easier for a hesitant squid to take fully.
- Where it sits in the Ultra range — This and the Ultra 3D Laser DX hold highest of the seven Ultra models. The 5 g Ultra Bait drifts down slowly, the Ultra Cloth and Crystal Ultra bodies occupy the middle band, and the Ultra DX is the one built to reach depth and hold in current.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Sotong torak and sotong katak on candat sotong trips off Terengganu, Johor and the Indonesian islands, hung high in the lit column.
- North America — Market squid off Pacific piers, breakwalls and lit moorings, worked slowly among the pilings after dark.
- Japan & East Asia — Kensaki-ika and yariika on boat sutte, ikametal and omorig rigs, usually as the upper jig on the branch; also fished in Korea and Taiwan.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari and arrow squid from deep jetties and boats in South Australia and Tasmania; European squid and cuttlefish on Mediterranean and Atlantic marks.
