The 7911 pairs a rolling swivel with a crosslock snap. The crosslock is the tidy, low-profile way to lock a snap: the wire arm crosses back over itself and seats inside the closed loop, so the clip is held shut from two directions instead of one, yet the fitting stays compact and light in front of the lure. Behind it the rolling barrel keeps turning, so a spinning bait sheds twist rather than passing it up the line. Nine sizes, #10 through #3/0.

How To Rig It

• Leader to lure — Improved clinch or uni to the swivel eye, lure on the snap. Check the arm is fully crossed and seated before casting; a half-closed crosslock is no stronger than a plain bent-wire snap.
• Crosslock or coastlock — how to choose — The 7911 crosslock locks by crossing the wire back into the loop: neat, low in profile, easy to work in light and medium sizes. The 7912 coastlock runs its tag wire down inside a long formed hook, giving a wider gape and a heavier, more deliberate closure. Take the crosslock where lure size is modest and the connection should disappear; take the coastlock where the split ring is large and the fish are heavy.
• Spinners and blades — Clip the blade to the snap and let the barrel absorb the rotation. If twist still reaches the reel, add a second swivel a metre up the leader.
• Sizing — #10 to #6 for light game plugs and small spoons, #4 to #1 for general estuary and reservoir lures, #1/0 to #3/0 for heavy jigs and trolled lures.
• Care — Rinse after salt water. Corrosion at the crossing point stops the arm seating cleanly.
