Hinotsu Heavy Duty Split Ring 6345 Fishing Accessories

The Hinotsu 6345 is the S-type heavy-duty split ring — the compact, lighter-gauge half of Hinotsu's heavy-duty ring pair, sitting between a standard split ring and the reinforced round-section R-type 6343. Its double-coil S-type construction gives a secure connection for hooks, assist rigs, swivels and solid rings while keeping the ring small and light, so lure balance, action and sensitivity are preserved instead of being deadened by oversized hardware. Made from specially selected stainless steel, it combines high tensile strength with corrosion resistance for coastal and offshore use. Five sizes, #2.0 to #6.0, cover lighter lure setups through demanding jigging rigs, with 12 to 15 rings per packet depending on size.

6345 or 6343? Both are heavy duty and both use a double coil, but they solve different problems. The 6345 S-type starts a size smaller (#2.0), packs more rings per bag and is the one to fit when the ring must not upset a lure's swimming action or the balance of a lighter jig. The 6343 R-type uses a thicker, reinforced round-section coil and is the one to fit when the ring is expected to resist springing open or stretching into an oval under a locked drag. Same job, two different points on the strength-versus-bulk curve.

Key Features

  • High-durability S-type double-coil construction for hooks, jigs, swivels and solid rings
  • High tensile strength for substantial pulling pressure in demanding applications
  • Specially selected stainless steel combining strength, resilience and reduced weight
  • Anti-corrosive properties for coastal, offshore and other saltwater environments
  • Lightweight, compact profile helps maintain natural lure action and sensitivity
  • Heavy-duty size range from #2.0 to #6.0
  • Value pack: 12 to 15 rings per packet depending on size
  • Suits jigging, casting, lure fishing, popping and general terminal rigging

How To Rig It

  • Where it goes in the rig — The split ring is the consumable in the chain: PE braid → FG knot → leader → solid ring → split ring → jig. The seamless solid ring carries the knot and assist cords; the split ring carries the lure only. It is also the ring that goes between a hard bait's belly hanger and its trebles.
  • Always use split ring pliers — Open the coil with the pliers' hooked tip, walk the solid ring, hook eye or jig eye fully around, then release. Heavy-gauge rings opened by hand come out distorted and never close properly again.
  • Matching size to tackle — #2.0 and #3.0 for casting metals, hard baits and light jigging on lighter PE classes; #4.0 and #5.0 for reef jigging and inshore boat work; #6.0 where the drag is set high and fish must be turned out of structure.
  • When the ring becomes the weakest link — A split ring is coiled wire with a seam, so it will always be weaker than a solid ring of the same size. Once you are locking the drag on trevally, amberjack or big grouper, or pulling heavy jigs on PE 4 and above, fit the R-type 6343 instead.
  • Rinse in fresh water and inspect — Rinse the terminal set after every saltwater trip and dry it before storage. Sight down each ring: if the coil ends no longer sit flush, or the ring has gone from round to oval, it is stretched and must be replaced along with the solid ring and assist cords.
