Decoy Worm23 Body Hook — Size #2, Made In Japan

The Worm23 Body Hook is Decoy's fine-wire finesse worm hook, made in Japan by Katsuichi for the situations where a heavy hook kills the bait's action and a pressured fish will not commit. The superfine wire lets a small soft plastic fall and quiver naturally, while a wide gap holds the worm in position with the point fully exposed. The eye is turned slightly to improve the hook-set angle, and the square-section shank Decoy calls the LOCK ZONE grips the plastic so the body is not torn or bunched after a few casts. Decoy rate it from spinning tackle through to bait finesse gear.

How To Fish It

• Wacky rig — Hook a stick worm through the middle so both ends hang free, then let it fall on slack line. Both ends flutter on the drop and most bites come before it lands, so watch the line rather than waiting to feel the take.
• Neko rig — Add a nail weight to the worm's head and hook it in the upper body. Shake it on a semi-slack line so the tail stands and quivers in place — the answer for fish sitting tight to cover.
• Nose hook on a drop shot — Hook a small worm through the nose above the sinker and shake the tip without moving the weight, holding the bait in the strike zone.
• Fine-wire sets — Sweep the rod rather than snapping into the fish, and back the drag off. A steady sweep is enough to bury the point.

• Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) and peacock bass in reservoirs and clear rivers, juvenile giant snakehead (toman), tilapia, and small barramundi (siakap) around jetty pilings.
