A masubari is a plain single hook — no offset bend, no keeper barbs on the shank — passed straight through a soft plastic so the bait hangs free and moves on its own. The Worm120 HD Hook Masubari is Decoy's heavy-duty take on that idea. It is built on the Big Bite Finesse Worm20 hook, keeping the wide bite and exposed point that make a wacky-rigged worm convert, but in a wire gauge with the torque to hold a bass in the 60 cm class rather than only pressured fish on light line. Decoy also shape it to shed line twist, which matters when you re-cast the same rig all day, and it handles a wide spread of worm shapes rather than only the bait it was designed around.

How To Rig It

• Wacky rig — Pass the hook straight through the middle of a stick worm so both ends hang free and the point stands clear. Cast, let it fall on slack line and do nothing. Both ends shiver on the drop and most takes come before it reaches bottom.
• Wacky with an O-ring — Roll a rubber O-ring onto the worm and hook under the ring instead of through the plastic. The worm survives far more fish, and this hook's heavier wire still clears the ring on the set.
• Neko rig — Push a nail weight into the worm's head and hook it through the upper body. Shake the tip on semi-slack line so the tail stands and quivers over one spot — the answer for fish sitting hard against cover.
• Setting the hook — The point is fully exposed, so sweep rather than snap. On heavier line you can lean in harder than with a fine-wire finesse hook.
