Decoy V Snap SN-2 Made In Japan
The SN-2 is the small, precise snap of the Decoy SN range — the one for lures whose job is a sharp side-to-side dart, where a bulky connector blunts the very action you are trying to create. The V-shaped body is the whole idea: the contact point with the lure eye stays concentrated at a single point instead of sliding around a rounded bend, so the pulling force from the line arrives from one consistent direction with no wobble. That is what lets a twitch or a jerk reach the lure as you intended it, instead of being absorbed by the connector shifting first. It is built to strict weight tolerances so no piece-to-piece variation upsets a finely balanced minnow, in a new material with high elasticity and good resistance to metal fatigue. Decoy list the SN-2 in #0 to #3; this listing is size #0.
Where It Sits In The SN Range
- SN-2 (this model) — the compact, accuracy-first choice. Least bulk on the lure eye, and the one to fit when darting action is the point of the retrieve.
- SN-1 Round — the general-purpose alternative; its round bend suits lures that swim and roll rather than dart.
- SN-5 Spiral — no gate at all, rotated on and off, when change speed beats a positive lock.
- SN-3 Egg and SN-6 W — the cross-lock and double-opening power snaps for big baits and structure; SN-7 Open Swivel is a rig-building swivel.
Key Features
- V-shaped design holds the contact point with the lure eye at one fixed point
- Twitching and jerking inputs transfer to the lure without being softened at the connector
- Manufactured to eliminate weight variation between pieces
- New high-elasticity material with good resistance to metal fatigue
- NS Black finish, made in Japan by Katsuichi; 13 pieces per pack
How To Rig It
- Where it goes — Tie the leader to the closed apex of the V with a wetted uni or improved clinch, never to the gate wire. Clip the lure's split ring or front eye into the gate and seat it fully.
- Matching size to tackle — Size #0 as stocked suits small minnows, shads and light plugs on roughly 4–12 lb class spinning and finesse gear. Match the class of tackle you are fishing, not the size of the lure in your hand.
- Getting the dart it was built for — Fish a slack-line twitch: short rod-tip strokes with a fraction of slack between each, so the lure kicks sideways rather than being dragged forward. The V holds position through those strokes, which is where it beats a round snap.
- When the snap is the weakest link — Decoy publish no rated breaking strength for this range. A small snap on a locked drag, on a heavy bait, or on a fish being turned out of cover is carrying the whole rig on one gate. Move to the SN-3 or SN-6 for that work.
- Rinse after saltwater — Salt dries in the gate and stiffens it. Flush the terminal set after every trip and retire any snap that no longer seats cleanly or shows rust at the closure.
